A woman has gone viral on social media this week after taking to Facebook to share the heartwarming Christmas ornament she made out of her late husband's glasses.

According to a recent report by iHeart Radio, teacher Christy Hester lost her husband Richard back in January and simply couldn't bear to part with a pair of his glasses.

However, Christy decided that she didn't have to throw away this precious memento of her beloved and dearly-departed spouse, and took to the Facebook page 'Rainbows over Michigan' to share her special Christmas craft project that she worked on.

Employing acrylic paint, pipe cleaners, and a Sharpie, Christy turned her husband's glasses into an adorable snowman to hang up on her Christmas tree this year.

Christy uploaded a picture of the ornament, and captioned her post:

"My husband passed away this year, and I believe he is watching over us, so I turned his eyeglasses into an ornament as a nice remembrance! [sic]"

Suffice it to say, the reaction from other Facebook users was largely positive, and Christy's post now boasts over 22,000 reactions and more than 2,000 shares as of the time of writing.

Not only that but now a number of other people have come out of the woodwork to comment on how Christy's craftwork inspired them to attempt similar projects.

For instance, one Facebook user wrote: "My Father-in-law passed away Nov. 30th of a massive heart attack and I have a pair of his glasses to do the same. [sic]"

Meanwhile, someone else added: "Absolutely beautiful! A perfect memory at such a hard time for those (including me) during the [Christmas] season. Thank you for sharing this. [sic]"

In a later interview with iHeart Radio on the subject of her decoration, Christy stated:

"You get rid of some things and hold onto some things, and you don’t know why.

"He… just helped make people happy, he was funny, he was a jokester. He always let me know how much he loved me. There were lots of tears, but I think it’s healing."

Christy added:  "I was kind of blown away by the response... With every like and every comment, it was like my husband was saying 'I love you.'"
