A woman has taken to social media to call out a "boujee" restaurant's patriarchal ways after they only gave a menu with prices on to her boyfriend.

Australian radio host Abbie Chatfield took to TikTok earlier this week to reveal to her followers that she was dining at an expensive restaurant with her partner while on vacation in Europe. However, she only learned it was expensive after her boyfriend told her it was.

In the video - which has since amassed more than 730,000 views - Chatfield can be seen panning around the restaurant, while saying: "So, we're at the boujee restaurant. And my menu didn't have prices on it."

She then reveals that after her boyfriend mentioned the "expensive" prices, she asked him, "How do you know that?"

Check out the video below:

Chatfield - who also appeared as a contestant on the seventh season of Australia's The Bachelor - then reveals: "He got a menu with prices on it, and I didn’t," before adding: "I’m the breadwinner."

She ends the video by saying: "The patriarchy strikes again."

The restaurant the pair had dined at was in Venice, Italy. Per Atlas Obscura, Chatfield was handed what is known as a "ladies menu". Although the practice is now very uncommon, the site notes how it can still be found in high-end restaurants throughout Europe.

In response to the clip, TikTok was left aghast that such a practice is still taking place.

"This happened to me at Prime in Sydney less than 3 years ago. It happens in a lot of boujee places and I ALWAYS mention it and make it uncomfortable," one person commented.

A second added: "I mean I’m laughing… but it’s not funny."

Other TikTok users started sharing their own experiences in restaurants, with one person writing: "I have been at restaurants where I've ordered the wine and they've brought it to the man to try it."

Oh, and this TikToker sparked a huge discussion with this comment:

...but that's another issue for another day.

Chatfield later revealed that the couple did swap the menus, which must have caught the server's eye because the bill went in front of her at the end of the meal.
