A woman has revealed brutal texts from her "ungrateful" parents after she paid for their vacation to Hawaii.

In a viral “Am I The A**hole” post shared on Facebook, an anonymous user explained that she paid for her mom and dad's tickets to Kauai as a way of thanking them for watching her children.

As their 36th wedding anniversary was coming up, the woman made sure to also pay for their airfare, hotel, and rental car.

Despite gifting them a memorable trip, OP has claimed that her loving parents have been sending her complaints through text messages.

The woman, who is a mom of four, has alleged that her mom and dad have been left disgruntled by the cost of their food since they touched down in Hawaii.

“All I’ve pretty much heard from them is how expensive their food is. Not a thank you or even an appreciate [sic] or positive remark,” she penned.

Alongside the post, the mom shared a screenshot of her messages with her father. In the text exchange, he sent her a picture of the total cost of their restaurant meal, which came to be $104.31.

“Quit your complaining you’re in paradise on a free vacation,” she responded to the picture, to which her dad wrote back: “Our CHEAPEST meal was $40. Pretty much $50-60 everywhere.”

In a savage response, the woman said: “Ok, then note I’ll send you to Arkansas for your next trip," which prompted her father to hit back: “A condo would be smarter here, then you could cook a few meals."

Taking to the Facebook forum, the woman asked social media users if she was in the wrong for “being so irritated” by the messages from her parents “complaining about the cost of their meals".

Several users jumped to her defense, as one person wrote: "That is such ungrateful behavior! They are the ones ordering food- if it’s too expensive, buy something cheaper. I don’t care who they are, they are being rude!"

Another said: "I literally can’t imagine receiving such a nice gift and doing nothing but complaining about it. If they were going to be that concerned you’d think they’d look some things up about food cost and stuff beforehand and politely decline if they didn’t want to spend that money. Ridiculous."

A third commented: "WOW how ungrateful! They should be ashamed of themselves," and a fourth added: "They had time to prepare and save for it. They should've done some research. It was very kind of you to do something like this for them."

Others wondered if the price of the vacation was out of the parents’ range and if the woman had thought about whether they could afford to go out for meals.

"Did you ask them before buying the vaca to make sure they could afford the food and whatever else they want to do there?" one person questioned, while a second added: "[You are the a**hole] if you sent them on a vacation where they can't afford the food. The road to hell is paved with good intentions."
