A TikToker who went viral after discovering a rug buried almost 2ft deep in her backyard has disclosed what the police found after the investigation.

On Monday (September 30), Katie Santry, from Columbus, Ohio, said that she believed her house was haunted after noticing that her laptop screen had been cracked overnight and items on her desk were scattered out of place.

The TikToker also shared that she and her boyfriend Brandon were attempting to put a fence in their backyard when they found a "rolled-up carpet" buried deep in the ground.

Santry's following increased from 6,000 followers on the social media platform to over 2.1 million in under a week as her series developed.

The couple thought about how to handle the situation and decided that they should call law enforcement and investigators who arrived at her home on October 3 with cadaver dogs to find some answers.

The plot thickened when both cadaver dogs were alerted to the hole and sat near it - leading everyone to think that the rug may contain human remains.

After keeping her followers on the edges of their seats, Santry finally revealed what was recovered underneath her backyard and let's say... it's pretty underwhelming.

"They have recovered the hole and this has been the most absurd, insane experience of my life," Santry said. "What did they find? No, they didn't find a body, they found a mother effing rug with some rubber."

The content creator is still questioning why the two cadaver dogs sat near the hole, and why her laptop was mysteriously shattered.

"I'm so confused," she said, before adding: "There's no body, there's no body. Honestly, let's praise the Lord there's no body. I can stay in my house... everyone knows where I live but at least it's not haunted.

"But the mystery of the effing rug has been solved, and there is no body," she continued. "And they are doing a fine job of putting my stuff back up."

Some users still believe that there's more to the saga. "What if the body was a few feet under the rug!?" one user asked, while another said: "Nobody is going to bury a rug without [there] being a body...."

"I have a hard time believing they found nothing. They're hiding something!" a third remarked. "At least u have a new rug," a fourth quipped.

The Columbus Division of Police confirmed to NBC News that the investigation, which used K-9 resources, ended on Friday (October 4) after no human or animal remains were discovered.

“Investigators began digging at the site at approximately 9:00 AM and removed several small rug pieces from the ground,” the department said via email. “The pieces all tested negative for human or animal remains and, at this time, there are no plans for further testing.”
