A bar & grill owner who hails from Stockton-on-Tees, England has made waves on social media after sharing what has to be one of the most savage and brutally honest job listings ever written.
Let's be real here, we've all read job listings that sound a little too good to be true, with the recruiter or business owner talking up their company and the job role so much that it seems only marginally less exciting than becoming an astronaut or a Premier League football player. However, as we all know, there's only so much excitement one can garner in a 9-5 office job, no matter how many jazzy-sounding lifestyle bonuses are thrown your way.
And, of course, there is little point advertising a job in such a way that it appeals to someone who either does not have the qualifications nor the wherewithal to complete it effectively.
Perhaps that's why the owner of The George Pub & Grill, which is located in Stockton-on-tees, has gone for an altogether more upfront and straight-talking approach.
"Anyone looking for some work I've got a few job roles available for when we reopen the pubs... with safety covid guidelines." The job listing begins. So far, so normal. However, it swiftly takes a turn for the savage.
"Yes you'll be working for an *rse hole but who isnt these days lol but I'm a fair one and everyone who works for me enjoys being at work. Good teams at each venue and like a little family. You arent just an employee number to us." It goes on.
The listing kicks off by advising prospective employees of how they should present themselves for an interview;
"For any of the below roles you must be clean, smart and presentable. Dont come to an interview with your chipped finger nails, scraggly hair and just been on a session red eye. Come looking to impress me. If you come and your clothes are creased to bits then I wont be having your lazy *rse anywhere behind my bar. Look good feel good."
The listing even goes so far as to advise applicants to bring a box of Tic Tacs with them, "if you feel your breath is a little tangy then it probably is, get yourself a tic tac before your burn my eyes."
The ad then goes on to list the current positions available at the pub and grill. One particular gem in the Bar Person listing reads;
"If your banter is like a wet flannel and you cant hold a conversation for more than a minute then please get yourself back on indeed looking for a factory position or anything that doesnt involve customer facing contact and is away from us"
"Remember that the customer is NOT always right but they do pay all of our wages. Smile and make sure they have a good experience with us." The listing advises. Words to live by.
Perhaps realizing that the unusual tone of the job ad might lead some people to believe that it was a wind up, towards the end of the listing they've written, "This is a real job ad, we have vacancies! Help more see it by clicking on the page, click community then invite friends and send."
And many on social media were very taken with the job listing. "F*ckin love this! A guy who knows exactly what he wants and aint affraid to speak his mind, be brutally honest and show it!!!" wrote one commenter, while another added, "Cheers for the honesty. I would rather work for an honest, hard-working "*rse hole" than work for an idiot that just tries to be good friends with all the employees."

However, not everyone was impressed by the job ad. One commenter wrote, "I’m not going to work for someone that doesn’t care about a post loaded with typos and grammatical nightmares."

Per Yahoo Lifestyle, the job ad appears to have worked wonders for the pub, after a follow-up comment on the post revealed that thanks to the popularity of the post several of the positions have now been filled.
