Staff at a restaurant have shared a heartwarming gesture of kindness performed by a customer who left them a massive tip.

A diner left staff at a restaurant speechless after leaving an eye-watering $10,000 tip following his meal.

Per Newsweek, staff members at the Wahoo Seafood Grill in Florida were handed a hefty tip from a kind stranger on Tuesday, August 17.

A post made on the restaurant's official Facebook page shows that the diner paid around $1,000 to each of the ten members of staff working that night.

Take a look at this image of the receipt here:

A picture of the diner's cheque clearly shows that, although his meal only cost him $144, he chose to later add a gratuity of $10,000.

Sharing his two cents on the customer's incredible act of kindness, restaurant owner Shawn Shepherd said: "I'm not usually an emotional guy, but this really got me. I'm blown away. We're ALL blown away by his generosity.

"The last year and a half hasn't been easy on this industry. We're hurting and we're exhausted, but this incredible act of kindness has restored our faith in humanity. [sic]"

A spokesperson for the restaurant captioned the post: "Our whole staff would like to thank this generous customer from the bottom of our hearts. We are all going to pay it forward in our own ways. Even the smallest acts of kindness can have a giant ripple effect.

"We're just a local, veteran-owned seafood restaurant doing our best to weather this storm - and this is truly the last thing we expected to happen on a regular Tuesday night.

"By sharing this, we hope you feel inspired to do something nice for someone today. Be the reason someone believes in the goodness of people."

The gesture of goodwill clearly resonated with other social media users, racking up over 1,905 shares and more than 200 comments on Facebook, at the time of writing.

Shepherd later admitted that the money had meant a lot to one member of staff whose child has recently been hospitalized with multiple sclerosis.

He also claimed another staff member had been living in a shelter and intended on using the money to help get back on his feet again.
