The coronavirus pandemic has devastated the service industry. Fortunately, however, in many parts of the world, including the US, eateries are slowly but surely starting to reopen, and the service they provide isn't going unnoticed by appreciative customers.
Now, the staff at The Famous Toastery in North Carolina have received a staggering tip on their reopening day.
Related - Last year, a woman left a $5,000 tip on a $55 bill to get revenge on her boyfriend:The incredibly generous tip of $1,000 was left by two first-time customers on their $43.31 breakfast bill, and it was spotted by a waitress after they had left the restaurant.
The Famous Toastery subsequently took to Facebook to praise the pair of diners, describing them as a "truly genuine couple".
"You, my friends, have huge hearts," the message read. "Myself and my staff are extremely grateful for your generosity!!"
The restaurant's owner, Jamie Kloiber, revealed that the huge tip was split between the "entire" staff – from "front of the house and back of the house".
In comments cited by News.com.au, the move was praised by social media users who described it as "selfless" and "kind".
"Faith in humanity is restored. Absolutely generous and kind people," one Facebook user said.
"Some people have the gift of generosity. Sharing the tip with the other employees was very selfless. This story made my day!" another wrote.
"Wonderful way to reopen for everyone!" another said.
This heartwarming story comes as a restaurant shamed customers who never showed for their reservation amid the coronavirus pandemic.
However, while coronavirus lockdown restrictions have been eased in many parts of the US, it remains of the utmost importance that people continue to follow the CDC guidelines to prevent further infections and deaths.
Something which can't be said for the hundreds of people who attended the "Zero Ducks Given" party at Lake Ozarks, Missouri, amid the pandemic.
