Somehow, in this strangest of all years we're living through, Halloween is almost upon us.

Yes, this year has appeared to move at once at a complete and utter snail's pace and yet simultaneously each month seems to pass by in the blinking of an eye.

As we approach several holidays and the festive season itself, the changes to our ways of life are likely to feel a little more pronounced, as traditional gatherings for Halloween and Christmas are rendered impractical or even impossible by social distancing measures. Those measures are, of course, vital in the battle to slow the spread of coronavirus.

One mom even went so far as to put her Christmas decorations up three months early:

One thing that will never change, though, is the gargantuan battle for supremacy that occurs each and every year in the run up to the festive period.

Already this year we've presented you with news of a half-Christmas tree, which allows you to forgo the pointless task of decorating the back, an 'Elf' edition of Monopoly and a plethora of new original Christmas movies coming to Netflix.

If all that isn't quite enough to sate your appetite for all things festive, though, never fear because supermarket chain Sainsbury's is now selling a pigs in blankets flavor mayonnaise. Intrigued? Concerned? Hungry?

Personally I'm a complicated mixture of the three.

Yes, a post on Facebook page Snack News & Reviews spilled the beans over the news of the unusual condiment, and people have been weighing in with their decidedly mixed opinions ever since.

One less-than-enamored would-be customer wrote, "Eugh couldn't think of anything worse... Jeepers"

"[My] brain can’t begin to comprehend the taste of this," wrote another baffled commenter.

However, one Facebook user was a little more positive about the mayo, which they commented "Sounds really nice".

The general consensus, though, appeared to be that most people simply couldn't wrap their heads around the unusual condiment, let alone how it might actually taste.

Some suggested using it with a chicken or turkey sandwich, which makes sense in keeping with the Christmassy theme, at least.

Meanwhile, if you're interested in purchasing the 'Elf' edition of Monopoly, here's what you can expect.

In Monopoly: Elf, you’ll "join Buddy the Elf in the magical land of New York City, and relive his adventures as he explores new places, finds his father, and saves Christmas with Santa".

The game's rules read: "Celebrating the classic holiday comedy, this custom edition of MONOPOLY will have you collecting and trading wonderous landmarks along the path of Buddy's journey, like Santa's Workshop, Gimbel's Toy Department, and the Lincoln Tunnel.

"Grab a token and your elf shoes, and travel around the board spreading Christmas cheer - and don't forget to sing loud for all to hear!"

You can read more about the game here.
