Despite their limited international presence and questionable ethics, you’d be hard pressed to argue that Chick-Fil-A don’t serve some seriously good chicken. A recent poll of America’s favourite fast food pig out spots ranked the Georgia-based business as the number one chicken chain in America, ahead of rivals like Popeyes and KFC. When it comes to deep fried poultry, Chick-Fil-A definitely know what they’re doing.

Their standing means that anyone attempting to emulate the Chick-Fil-A formula has a lot of pressure on their shoulders. The franchise is so popular that any effort to jump on the bandwagon can end in disaster - fail, and you’re in for a fearsome reception. However, if you manage to pull it off, you can guarantee that you’re about to become very popular.

In an attempt to muscle in on the hot, chickeny action, membership-only retailers Sam’s Club have decided to have a crack at recreating the ultimate chicken sandwich. New for 2019, the business have unveiled a brand new range of pre-prepared fried chicken burgers, complete with "dilly-flavored breaded chicken” and “soft butter buns." They’re even offering frozen waffle fries to complete the homage. While not an official copy of Chick-Fil-A’s signature dishes, the resemblance is uncanny.

Both the sandwich and fries are currently exclusive to Sam’s Club and can be bought at retailers and online. The fries will set you back around $4.98 for a four-pound pack, while the sandwiches are available for $15.98 for 10 - a steal at around $1.60 per sandwich. To top it off, Sam’s Club are also offering “Southern Style Chicken Bites” - an ideal option for anyone craving a quick fried chicken fix.

Although the slightly misleading promo picks feature pickles, which aren’t included in the actual product, there seems little doubt that the sandwiches are an excellent alternative. Online reviews certainly paint a promising picture, with one enthusiastically stating, “GREAT ALTERNATIVE TO CHIC-FIL-A!!!!" Whether Sam’s Club can effectively take a slice of the Chick-Fil-A pie remains to be seen, but they’ve certainly made a statement.
