A little girl's heartwarming friendship with a worker at her local Publix has gone viral after her mom shared a sweet video of the pair on TikTok.

In the video, six-year-old Fiona Smith can be seen running through the store looking for Gilnet - the worker she has adorably nicknamed "high-five" due to his trademark greeting - to give him a thank you card.

"She met him when she was little and sees him here every week," mom Rachel Smith wrote in the video, adding: "Today she brought him a thank you card because he bought her a bicycle for her birthday."

When Fiona sees her friend she runs over to him and the pair embrace. In the caption, her mom calls them "the most unlikely BFFs", explaining in a comment that: "She calls him high five because ever since she was a baby, he gave her a high five when he saw her."

The sweet video has racked up over 18 million views on TikTok and thousands of likes. Many people took to the comments section to gush over the adorable friendship.

"This is the absolute sweetest thing ever," one person wrote, while another agreed, writing: "Omg this is so pure."

Another user thought the store should be giving Gilnet a raise. "You need to give this employee a huge bonus and make this a commercial ASAP," they commented.

After seeing the overwhelmingly positive reaction to the clip, Rachel decided to set up a GoFundMe page so she could say thank you to Gilnet in a more tangible way.

"Our favorite Publix worker, Gilnet, has always provided a smile, a hug and a high five for Fiona since she was a baby. She's come to know him as high five, and she looks forward to seeing him at Publix every week," she wrote on the GoFundMe page.

"He even got her a bicycle for her birthday. I'd love to give something tangible back to him for the unquantifiable joy he's given my daughter her whole life," she added. At the time of writing, the fundraiser has surpassed its $5,000 goal and raised a whopping $7,840.
