'Skinny' house leaves social media users absolutely perplexed: 'How does someone live there?'

Moving house can be an extremely stressful time for anybody.

You can spend hours scrolling through online listings, having endless calls and meetings with a realtor, and just when you think you've found the perfect home in your price range, they show you to a house that looks like it could topple over if a pigeon landed on the roof.

Well, just imagine what would be going through your mind if you turned up to view this house - known as the "pie house".

Check out the inside of this bizarre house in the video below:

The home has recently been put on the market in Deerfield, Illinois for just under $270,000 - which may sound like a bargain for a piece of real estate in the Chicago suburbs, but... it is so NARROW.

The home has recently gained attention online thanks to a video uploaded by TikToker eli.korn_.

Posting the video to the social media platform two days ago with the caption "SKINNY HOUSE SKINNY HOUSE SKINNY HOUSE", the clip has already amassed over 1 million views from intrigued TikTok users.

In the comments section - along with jokes such as "you gotta sleep standing up" - people were desperate to see what the inside looked like.

And it may surprise you to learn that the "pie house" is actually a two-bedroom, three-bath home that looks remarkably spacious on the inside.

In fact, the house got the nickname of the "pie house" due to the fact that it is actually wedge-shaped like a slice of pie - meaning it is wider at one end than the other.

The designer of the home told the Chicago Tribune that he was just trying to build a house in the suburbs where land is scarce. He also revealed that upon completion, neighbors complained about the home's unique looks, as it was a "distraction".

I guess you really cannot judge a book by its cover...
