A sleep expert has taken to social media to explain why you shouldn't sleep in the nude - and head's up, the reason is pretty revolting.
In a clip shared to the Shut Eye TikTok account, the expert gives a short and sweet explanation for why we should all be wearing pajamas in bed.
"Here's why you should never sleep commando," he says to kick off the video.
"The average person cracks one off 15 to 25 times a day, and this can happen when you're sleeping," the expert continues, before explaining the gross side effect of passing wind that many people overlook.
"A scientific study has proven that every time you beep the horn, you spray a tiny amount of fecal material," he reveals.
The expert then went on to say that "for the sake of [our] partners" we should all be downloading Shut Eye, a sleep tracking app that keeps a record of everything you do while you're dozing, be it snoring, farting, or talking.
Unsurprisingly, many people were grossed out by the information. They took to the comments section to make the point that you should regularly wash your bedding. "Good thing I wash every day and wash my bedding daily," one user wrote.
However, many others weren't happy at the idea that they could no longer sleep commando. Many left comments complaining that sleeping in the nude was more comfortable for them.
"Yeah but… it’s so comf," one person wrote, while another agreed they weren't willing to give up their favorite method of sleep, commenting: "Don’t care still doing it."
A third person had a more scientific counter-argument, claiming that "more scientific studies state overall sleeping commando is actually better for you, regardless of how many times you beep."
Meanwhile, a fourth user claimed they had their own bizarre reasoning for why sleeping naked was a bad idea, regardless of health or hygiene.
"I don’t sleep commando in case there’s a fire and I need to quickly jump out the window…" they said.
