A street performer has been flooded with praise after footage of him bringing joy to a young autistic boy hit social media.

Yes, 2020 may have been a year for the trashcan and 2021 hasn't exactly gotten off to the best start, but seeing this one video filled with joy and happiness may be the life-affirmation you need for today.

In the now-viral clip, musician and street performer Mick "The Busker" McLoughlin can be seen sitting on a tram opposite Terence Power and his younger brother.

As they sit on the public transport, Mick starts to play a cover of Randy Newman's 'You've Got A Friend In Me', which is best known for being the soundtrack to Disney's Toy Story.

And as McLoughlin, who is from Dublin, started to strum and sing the beloved tune, Terence's little brother, seven-year-old Eddie, can be seen smiling and laughing with joy.

Sharing the clip to Twitter, Terence captioned his post: "Bring a tear to a glass eye. This video after making my day, Mick Mcloughlin singing to my little brother who suffers with autism. He looks so happy. What a voice Mick has!! An absolute gent the man is."

McLoughlin often uploads videos of his street performances to his YouTube channel, where he currently boasts over 7,000 subscribers (let's boost that, shall we?).

And his soulful performance of the classic didn't just touch the hearts of Terence and Eddie, Twitter users absolutely adored it, with the original post being viewed nearly 6,000 times since it was shared - and other versions being watched over 30,000 times!

One person wrote: "Pure class brought a tear to my eye thanks for posting and reminding everyone theres genuine good people out there Mick you are a legend [sic]."

Another typed: "Kindness is beautiful and costs nothing."

According to the Irish Independent, young Eddie has been enjoying Mick's music since he was a baby.

Taking to his Facebook page to respond to all the heartwarming comment, Mick wrote: "Sobbing I didnt do this to get attention i did it because Edward is my pal and I hadnt seen him I ages and seen him on the [tram] i couldnt not sing to my pal [sic]".

(Per The Independent, the video was recorded before face masks were legally required on Dublin's Luas -the light rail/tram transportation network.)
