A Subway employee who sparked outrage after filming himself wreaking havoc in one of the chain's stores has been fired, according to the sandwich giant.
A number of videos were posted online showing the employee deliberately causing mayhem in the store.
Per Newsweek, the worker in question is named Jumanne Way. Way was seen walking across the deli counter with his shoes on and putting his feet into Subway's meat and condiment selections.
One post showed him randomly placing a collection of deli meats in a Subway restroom, with some being placed on the toilet seat.
In other footage, which was originally discovered by Newsweek but has since been deleted, Way is seen throwing meats as well as other ingredients around the store.
Needless to say, customers were outraged by the horrifying display, with many taking to Twitter to share their disgust.
One Twitter user said they would no longer buy from the chain unless the employee responsible was dismissed.
Subway's official Twitter account replied: "We appreciate you reaching out regarding your concerns. This situation has been addressed and we have confirmed with the franchise of this location that the employee was immediately terminated after he learned of his actions."
The chain's UK store confirmed that the worker had been fired, writing: "Subway and our network of franchisees take health and food safety extremely seriously and don’t condone any behavior that violates our strict policies in these areas.
"While Subway restaurants are individually owned and operated, we have confirmed with the franchisee of this location that the employee was immediately terminated after he learned of the employee’s actions."
Way has since told Newsweek in an interview: "I took the idea for walking on the food, and the toilet, from other controversial things that I’ve seen on the internet. I’m not exactly sure what, but I figured it would draw attention.
He explained: "It’s a lot that happened within the last five years that led to those Subway videos. The owners of the store were disappointed in my actions.
"I’ve been struggling with finding purpose in my life for years, and was uncertain in my ability to maintain stability. I gave up on myself. I always enjoyed Subway as a customer, and as an employee."
