Two twin sisters have confused their followers by claiming that their sons are brothers, cousins – and twins.
Identical twins Brittany and Briana married identical twins Josh and Jeremy Salyers, and then gave birth to baby boys within months of each other.
Unsurprisingly, their sons Jax and Jett look adorably similar. But people have still been left baffled by the claim that the baby boys are more than just cousins.
In a cute Instagram post on their joint social media account, Brittany and Briana shared a snap of their two little sons alongside the mind-bending caption: "Cousins, genetic brothers, and quaternary twins."
Many people took to the comments section to express their confusion.
"How are they genetic brothers exactly?" asked one person.
"What does quaternary twins mean?" questioned another.
"Not arguing just really trying to understand the science," a third wrote.
But others jumped to the twin’s aid and explained:
"The fathers have the same DNA and the mother's had the same DNA they both had their own babies which would show the same DNA as a mother and the father for both babies. That would make them more brothers than they are cousin," one person wrote.
"On a family tree they will be listed as cousins. But if they sent in DNA to Ancestory.com it would come back as they are siblings," another wrote.
Meanwhile, many followers gushed over the baby boys and exclaimed that they looked so alike.
Brittany and Briana met Josh and Jeremy at a festival for twins in 2017. After a whirlwind romance, the boys proposed to them just six months later.
The four twins had a joint wedding in August 2018, then moved into one big-shared Virginia home.
Having experienced every major life milestone together, it only made sense that the twins should become parents at the same time.
So they were thrilled to announce that they were both pregnant back in Summer 2020.
"Guess what!!?? BOTH couples are pregnant!" they wrote in a joint Instagram post breaking the news.
The post continued: "We are thrilled and grateful to experience overlapping pregnancies and to share this news with you all!
"Our children will not only be cousins, but full genetic siblings and quaternary multiples! Can't wait to meet them and for them to meet each other!"
