A brand new Florida theme park called Epic Universe is being built by Universal Orlando, it was announced Thursday morning.
The announcement was made at the Orange County Convention Center during a press conference in Orlando, Florida.
Once the new park is complete, it will take guests to numerous new lands based on "beloved stories".
"Our vision for Epic Universe is historic," Universal parks and resorts' CEO, Tom Williams, said in a statement to INSIDER. "It will build on everything we have done and become the most immersive and innovative theme park we have ever created."
Epic Universe won't be right next to Islands of Adventure and Universal Studios, but instead will be some miles away from Universal's CityWalk.
Aside from the upcoming park, the newest addition to Universal Orlando Resort is the water park, Volcano Bay, which opened in 2017.
Including previous lands - Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure - Epic Adventure will be the fourth theme park launched by the company.
It will be located inside a 750-acre site, which will include an entertainment centre, hotels, shops and restaurants.
Universal Orlando has not yet announced what the themed lands inside the park will be. It's believed, however, that Epic Adventure may be home to popular Nintendo character, Mario, and honour certain NBCUniversal brands such as DreamWorks Animation.
"Our new park represents the single-largest investment Comcast NBCUniversal has made in its theme-park business and in Florida overall," Comcast Corporation CEO Brian L. Roberts said in a statement.
"It reflects the tremendous excitement we have for the future of our theme-park business and for our entire company's future in Florida," he added.
According to INSIDER, construction has already begun on Epic Adventure, but there's no set opening date yet.
