A mother has revealed that she gave birth to twins on different days, in different months, and in different years after going into labor just before the new year.
Kali Jo Scott and her husband Cliff had double the reason to celebrate 0n December 31, as they welcomed in the new year with new additions to their family.
As reported by the Sun, the original due date of the twins was January 11, with Kali being scheduled in for a cesarean section. But the new arrivals couldn't wait that long...
Following a check-up on the 29th, Kali was hospitalized due to her blood pressure, and that's when the couple realized that their children might be coming much sooner than anticipated.
The first daughter, named Annie Jo, was born at 11:55PM on December 31, 2022.
Then, six minutes later, second baby Effie Rose arrived at 12:01AM on January 1, 2023.
That does indeed mean that, technically speaking, the twin sisters were born on different days, in different months, and in different years!
Coming two weeks early, both girls weighed five pounds and five ounces.
Speaking to Good Morning America, Kali said: "I love the unique aspect that they get to go forward with a little bit of individualism right out of the gates.
"We had joked at that point, once we realized that we weren't going to leave the hospital without babies, that wouldn't it be funny. We had a couple of friends who said the same thing and then it ended up happening that way."
Something that will be rare for twins, is the pair will get to celebrate their birthdays on different days meaning that both will get an individual day to celebrate.
"I had been thinking, you know, so traditional of one birthday, but now it's two totally different birthdays," Kali explained. "One will get to celebrate New Year's Eve going out and gets to celebrate New Year's Day and the new year coming in."
Being born in Texas, Annie Jo was the hospital's final baby of 2022 with Effie Rose being the first of the new year - so both get to go home with a title!
The new parents said they are excited about the adventure ahead, and both children are recovering well from the events of New Year's Eve.
We wish the happy family all the best for the future!
