I have never understood those who prefer crust to the center of the pizza. To me, there is something very special about a soft, gooey, cheezy middle, and I refuse to give that up - I mean, surely it is the entire point of the pizza, right?

But regardless of how I feel, Villa Italian Kitchen just announced their “Just the Crust” pizza. The new creation is quite literally just crust arranged in the shape of the pizza slice we all know and love.

The national restaurant chain thinks this is a genius idea for carb-lovers. Mimi Wunderlich, Director of Communications and Digital Market for the restaurant told Fox News:

"We know that the crust is everyone’s favorite part of the pizza, so skipping straight to selling pizza crusts only seemed like the perfect idea."

Though some people (like me, for example) seem to think it's strange to brand this as pizza when it's really just breadsticks. Especially when many prefer they'd be stuffed. When Villa Italian Kitchen announced the coming release on Instagram this week, they received some backlash. The caption of the photo read:

"BREAKING NEWS: Everyone's favorite part of the pizza will be available for purchase at participating Villa Italian Kitchens nationwide starting on July 18. Mark your calendars - our 'Just The Crusts' dish is almost here! Would you try this?!"

While some commenters seemed excited about the idea, just as many posted reactions like "it's a really bad idea sorry ... unless they're stuffed you won't sell many" and "that looks kinda gross, like people's crusts that they didn't eat and put it in a box."

And people on Twitter seem to agree. But more than thinking this is a bad idea, they're just confused:

The new creation drops July 18 for about the price of the chain's regular slice at $2.75. But with such mixed reactions, we'll see how long they're around for.
