A wedding photographer from Ohio has received praise online for her response to a client who requested a refund.
The bride-to-be had seen posts from photographer Shakira Rochelle on social media that supported the Black Lives Matter movement, and it was for this reason that it appeared the bride-to-be wanted to terminate the contract she had signed to have Rochelle take pictures on her wedding day.
Per Yahoo Life, a portion of the text message, which was subsequently shared to Twitter, sees the bride-to-be request a refund of her deposit on the basis that she and her fiance, "cannot bring (themselves) to support anyone who is so outspoken on matters that simply do not concern them as well as someone that does not believe that ALL lives matter.”
“We would be truly embarrassed to have you at our event and feel that you aren’t stable enough to complete the job we need from you,” she continued. “Please let me know when and how we can expect our refund and we are requesting to be relieved from our contract. Thanks.”
In response, Rochelle replied that, unfortunately, the contract the bride-to-be signed stated that her deposit was non-refundable.
“I will email you a cancellation agreement shortly that will require your signature to forfeit your date,” she wrote. “I wish you a lifetime of growth and I would like to thank you for your donation to Black Lives Matter.”
And Twitter users shared her business information in a bid to give her a boost after her response to the bride-to-be.
The bride-to-be finally responded, “you will be hearing from our attorney.”
Shakira Rochelle also shared the exchange to her own personal Facebook page.
Rochelle told In The Know that she and the bride-to-be had met on two occasions prior to the text exchange and that they had got on well.
“We got along very well in both situations… so well, in fact, that she followed my personal social media platforms shortly after,” Rochelle revealed. “That’s where I believe she realized we must have different views on things.”
Rochelle also told In The Know that she has not heard from the woman in question since a tweet containing the text exchange went viral.
