An 83-year-old woman who married a man younger than half her age has since branded him a "narcissist" following their split.
Iris Jones and Mohamed Ibriham's unconventional love story began in 2019 when they crossed paths on Facebook. After a year of maintaining a long-distance relationship online, they decided to cement their union in a modest ceremony. Their connection was brought to the limelight when they appeared on the British daytime TV show This Morning.
During their appearance, Iris shared some intimate details of their relationship, which raised eyebrows and left the show's hosts in shock.
She candidly mentioned that their first physical encounter involved using an "entire tube of KY jelly," resulting in her feeling "saddle sore." She even divulged that her preferred sex position was "doggy fashion."
Despite the shock factor, the couple seemed deeply enamored with each other, although speculations about Mohamed's motives for marrying the British senior citizen began circulating.
Questions were raised about whether Mohamed's intentions were driven by financial gain or securing a British passport. He vehemently refuted these allegations, stating on the show: "The love does not know any difference between age or countries. Iris chose me and I chose Iris. I want to say for all the people who attack our love, it's none of your business, focus on your lives, go to hell. That is all."
Well, things took a turn for the couple and just a couple of years later they have gone their separate ways, and it seems like Iris isn't exactly a fan of her former spouse.
She has taken to Facebook to blast Mohamed in a lengthy statement, where she has referred to him as a "narcissist", and agreed with a headline that branded him as "jobless" and "pennyless".
The 83-year-old recalled how they met, and how she ensured that he knew that she was a "biddy", but this didn't stop the romance from blossoming.
After visiting Mohamed in Egypt a few times, Iris explained how they tied the knot and moved to the UK. However, this was not before he had taken the 83-year-old's bank account from £40,000 ($50,000) down to £9000 ($11,300) due to spending on their honeymoon and other lavish things.
"Mohamed has never had a job and never had any money. I used to say to people that we shared expenses, but my money paid for everything," Iris penned.
She continued: "I never questioned Mohamed because I trusted him. He used to charm me by saying: 'In Islam, what's mine is yours and what's yours is mine'. But he never had anything. When our relationship hit the headlines, the heading in the Sunday Mirror read". JOBLESS, PENNILESS EGYPTIAN, 35 with 78 year old pensioner. That headline was dead right!"
Iris claims that she forked out tens of thousands more for her husband, and that when he arrived in the UK, she fed them both using her pension.
She noted the point that their marriage took a turn: "In January of this year, I checked how much I had lent him, and was shocked to realise He owed me £26,000 ($32,800). I told him, 'No more money, Mohamed. If I dropped dead tomorrow, I haven't got enough to bury me'! He did say at that stage that he needed about £40,000 ($50,000)."
The penny dropped for Iris when Mohamed became angry that her house wasn't going to him after she died, and after he expressed anger that she had given money to her son.
"From Mohamed's behaviour, I learned that he was displaying many of the traits of narcissism. I researched this condition thoroughly, as I wanted to save my marriage, but Mohamed wouldn't listen," she wrote.
Iris added: "On June the 13th of this year, after another vitriolic row, I told him to go. It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, as my love for Mohamed was genuine, but it was no good pretending that things would improve. I let my head rule my heart."
