We live in a world where pressures over size are constantly put upon us, and this can be a distressing thing to contend with.
Perhaps you've always been a size 10, but all of a sudden, you spot your dream pair of jeans in a newly-opened store only to discover that it's the size 14 that fits you instead.
Now, one woman has called out the differences between jean sizes in a viral post.
Cardi B slammed her body shamers after she "gained a little weight":Becki, from Leeds, England, decided to write this post after buying three pairs of jeans from Zara, Topshop and ASOS and said that she has "no words" for what happened next.
She wrote: "CLOTHES ARE MADE TO FIT YOUR BODY, NEVER CHANGE YOUR BODY TO FIT THE CLOTHES! Sizing. Specifically high street sizing. I have no words.
"Sizing is not an exact science (especially in fast fashion) and you absolutely cannot attach your self-worth to the number on the label because you're setting yourself up to fail!"
In the post, Becki wears three pairs of jeans and demonstrates that while the size 8 jeans from ASOS are a snug fit, the size 10 jeans from Topshop were "roomy" and the largest pair, size 12 jeans from Zara, were barely able to fit over her thighs.
Becki continued: "I mean, look!!! The white jeans are a size 8 - a little snug yes, but on. The black ones are a size 10, roomy, comfortable and make me feel great. The blue ones, the ones that I couldn't even get over my [butt] (see final photo for all that booty!!!) are a size 12.
"Is there any wonder no one knows what size they are?!
"This to me is madness and if I wasn't as comfortable in my own body and my own skin as I am, these jeans would make me feel rubbish, worthless, fat and the list goes on."
"I am begging you all, PLEASE do not let the clothes define how you feel about yourself, "she continued. "You are more than a size label. You are more than those jeans that don't quite fit right. And if something doesn't fit you please remember that there is NOTHING wrong with your body and EVERYTHING wrong with the clothes."
While Becki did acknowledge that there are some size discrepancies between brands, she "cannot comprehend a world where a size 12 pair of jeans are SMALLER than a size 8 pair of jeans?!?"
Needless to say, the post was applauded by Becki's 4.1K Instagram followers and it wasn't long before it went viral.
One person wrote: "I love this! I always try to remind myself but it still gets me sometimes."

A second added: "This is exactly what happened to someone I know, and she became hysterical and was almost crying believing her weight has gone up massively. Thanks for sharing."

Meanwhile, a third remarked: "It's worse as you move up in size. Size 16 = never know what size to actually get and it's never cut the same as the smaller sizes so also looks different (i.e. baggier bc that's what us fat people want......to hide our bodies)."

So, the next time you go to buy a new pair of jeans, try not to take the size too seriously.
