It is certainly hard for all of us in modern society not to feel somewhat swamped by unrealistic beauty ideals that perpetuate ideas of what we 'should' look like.

No longer just the fodder of glossy magazine covers extolling the virtues of some new fad diet, now we're confronted with images of filtered perfection online as well.

With every scroll through our Instagram feeds, it is nearly enough to convince ourselves that the world is populated mostly by improbably chiseled Adonis-like humans, with blindingly white teeth and an endless supply of sun-soaked vistas in front of which to pose.

That's why when movements appear that aim to redress the balance between fictional body goals and reality, they're worth celebrating. The body positivity and Grombre movements are doing this on Instagram, and one artist is doing her bit to remind kids that they're great just the way they are.

Sonia Singh upcycles fashion dolls to a more natural look - her dolls are designed with real kids in mind, with fresh faces ready for outdoor fun and adventure.

Each Tree Change Doll is slightly different - every doll has been rescued from second-hand stores in order to be upcycled and given a new life with a new owner.

In a post advising followers of new dolls available in September, Tree Change Dolls wrote on Facebook:

"Here are my dolls for the month of September! These little dolls will be available in my Etsy shop www.treechangedolls.etsy.com on Wednesday the 2nd of September at 10pm Australian Eastern Standard Time.

"For this sale I will be donating 10% from the sale of each doll to Tasmanian Land Conservancy to help protect our unique and wonderful natural habitats for future generations."
