We all love a room with a view, but one woman got slightly more than she bargained for when she checked in to an Airbnb, only to find that her window opened into the restaurant next door.

TikToker Desiree Baker - who goes by the handle @desireerosebaker on the platform - shared her travel nightmare in a video last week.

The clip begins with Desiree showing viewers what the New York Airbnb was supposed to look like, based of the photos she saw beforehand.

"These are the pictures from online, like two beds, nice view, and a good location," she says while showing some professional photos advertising the property. In the pictures, there is a blue sky and skyscrapers visible out the window.

Check out Desiree's hilarious video below:

But Desire is quick to debunk this myth, explaining that when she arrived she found out the view was very different.

"I roll up the shades and there's no buildings. We're in a restaurant," she says.

For anyone who doesn't believe her, Desiree cuts the video to a shot of her room when she has arrived, which is much smaller and dingier than it looked online. After showing us around briefly, she heads over to the shade and rolls it up.

Right on the other side of the window is a couple having dinner. They're close enough to touch, and behind them are waiters, other diners, and the whole inside of the restaurant next door.

"That's a restaurant. That's two people eating dinner," says Desiree in disbelief.

Though she can see far too much of them, it soon becomes apparent that the diners can't see Desiree.

In her second video, Desiree reveals more about the mysterious window:

Even so, the lack of privacy was staggering for the TikToker, who vented in the video's caption "HOW IS THIS LEGAL you can not make this up. I can open the window and touch their table."

Since being posted, the video has been viewed over 9.3 million times. Many users suggested that Desiree make the most of the situation.

"Girl go in the restaurant after they close and make yourself a drink," wrote one person.

"Just reach out the window and randomly grab their food while they are looking away," joked another.

"That’s free tv right there," a third added.

Desiree took their advice, making a whole series of follow-up TikTok's in which she rated diners' conversations and explored the restaurant. Once her trip was over, she revealed that the restaurant was Tempura in Times Square.

Meanwhile, although the owner wouldn't give Desiree a refund, Airbnb reached out after seeing her viral TikTok and offered her a credit receipt for a future stay.
