Social media is a pretty handy tool to use if you're ever in need of an opinion or two or three... or multiple even.

Say you've found something a little unsightly in your home, and have no idea how it came to be there; you can simply send out a tweet to the masses, start a new subreddit or ask the members of one of your Facebook groups for their assistance.

Well, one particular lady used the latter of these options when she came across some little black dots in her home.

Related - This is the creepy moment a group of tourists discovers that a furry animal they came across was actually a giant spider nest. Yikes...

Posting images of the mysterious black dots on Mrs. Hinch’s Cleaning Tips Facebook group, she asked:

"Does anyone have any idea what these marks could be? They started appearing on the tiles in the kitchen in random little patches, then this morning this was on the top of the PC we have in the kitchen."

Per the Sun, the lady was stunned to find out that the little black dots were, in fact, spider poo - or at least according to some of the Facebook group's members.

The publication states that one commenter wrote: "Spider poo. It washes off with no effort."

Another typed: "Defo spider poo - got on the door due to light outside [sic]."

And third wrote: "Look above and you will probably see a web/spider."

Per Animal Hype, a site run by Elise McDonald, a wildlife author, and blogger, wrote:

"Look closely on skirting boards or walls of your house to see if there is anything unusual resembling a paint splatter. If you find any, you are looking at the spider poop."

According to the Pest Guidance website, spiders "don’t leave solid droppings; instead, their droppings are thick and liquid". It also adds that spider poo tends to look similar to dark ink stains, and often ends up on walls and other surfaces.

"Their feces look like splats or drips in the shades of black, brown, white or grey," the website states.

"The color or type of feces depends on the species, but in most cases, you can expect dark splats or drips. These droppings are the combination of food and the other waste materials that are released from the spider's body."

So there you have it! I've definitely seen these dots in my own home, and never knew the disgusting source of them.
