A woman was left mortified after her face mask stained her face a bright green color just one day before an important job interview.
Documenting the blunder, the woman was forced to beg TikTok users for help with just hours to go before interviewing for a potential job she had been looking forward to.
The content creator, who goes by Kota on the app, went viral over the weekend after she shared a video featuring the chlorophyll-related mishap.
In the video, which has since racked up over 309,000 views, Kota's face is unmistakably green in color - resembling the titular green ogre from the Shrek franchise.
She reached out to her followers in the caption, asking whether anyone had any idea how she could remove the green color from her skin.
Kota explained that she had a "job interview at Bank of America tomorrow", adding: "Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get this off. Exfoliating did barely anything, I'm still green."
The TikToker then went on to say in the video: "I just saw so many TikTok's about chlorophyll and people saying it's just good for so many things.
"And I have issues with my skin, so maybe putting on chlorophyll on it will work. I looked it up and it says you just have to rub it in your skin a little bit as it can make your face kind of green."
Kota proceeded to rub her face while adding: "But when you rub it in, it will go away and I'm just having a difficult time rubbing it in. So I just want to say I'm trying to rub it off right now, these are my fingers and it won't come off."
Fortunately, the color did begin to fade after a while, leaving a faint green tint.
A number of TikTok users have since taken to the comments to share their thoughts on Kota's striking appearance, with many giving her some handy tips on how to remove the dye completely.
One commenter compared her appearance to that of the animated DreamWorks ogre Shrek:
Other TikTok users gave Kota advice on how to reverse the effects of chlorophyll, with one suggesting: "Red eyeshadow, red cancels out green and vice versa I hope it helps."
Another added: "Try vegetable oil or dish soap! Both of those work to get hair dye off, and vegetable [oil] is what I used on permanent dye."
A third chimed in: "It's gonna be awful for your skin but try baking soda and dish soap, that's how I get dye off my skin."
A different commenter wrote: "Idk if I'm too late but you could color correct and then do makeup."
One TikToker could relate to the fiasco, sharing: "Damnnn I did this too and could still see green a week later. I swear there were so many TikToks saying to do it."
A final user told the original poster: "Nah Besty we try things out after we're hired."
