A woman has taken to social media to share how her two different bosses reacted to the news that she would have to miss work due to her sister being in a coma.
Hillary Zinks (@hillary.zinks) currently works two jobs - her career as a makeup and effects artist in the film industry and as a server at a local resort.
Sharing her story with Buzzfeed, Zinks revealed how she received her call that her sister was in a coma and could pass at any moment. At the time she received the call, the MUA revealed she was on-set and had to inform her boss.
Zinks revealed: "When that boss found out, she was like, 'Hillary please go home. Do whatever you need to do. Be with your family. Be with your mom. Whatever you can. There is no job in this world that is worth missing life over."
However, then she had to inform her other boss at the resort where she worked as a server.
Watch Hillary's story below (and definitely watch until the very end):So, while driving to the hospital to be with her sister, Zinks messaged her other boss with all the details
But rather than being shown the same compassion as her other boss, this time she received a message back reading: "I do understand and I am sorry for what you are experiencing. I'm curious why you are letting me know 2 hours prior to your shift?"
After explaining that she had to start her trip at one in the morning, Zinks received a second message from her boss that contained the heartless message: "It is my job to create a positive work environment for all staff. We have a fifty top today and only 2 scheduled staff members for the shift... we will make it work, we always do. It just makes it hard on the crew that does show up."
I literally cannot get over the lack of compassion on display here.
Hillary replies by once again explaining: "My sister's dying and on life support. She may pass any minute. I just drove 8 hours to get to Vegas in hopes she doesn't die all alone. I don't give a damn about the 50 top or how hard other people will have to work today."
Zinks then tells her boss: "If you're so concerned then put on a servers outfit instead of telling ME that OTHER people will have it hard.
After mulling over her boss' comments, Zinks decided that enough was enough and sent the following message: "Call me crazy but after this morning, I just got this crazy weird vibe from my comatose sister that you should eat s**t for what you said and that I should quit. Happy Thanksgiving & sending love from Vegas."
She then sent her ex-boss a picture of her holding up her sister's hand and flipping her the bird.
Despite the heartbreaking situation, it's an amazing way to quit your job - and her old boss firmly deserved it.
As Zinks writes in the post description: "NO JOB IS WORTH important moments in your life."
Our thoughts go out to Hillary and her family, and we hope she works with more compassionate people in the future.
