A Florida woman has sparked a debate on TikTok after she revealed how she "tests" men to make sure they'll meet all her needs.
Gabby (who goes by @respectfullygabby on the social media platform) outlined her criteria for a man worth dating in a video that has racked up over 171,000 views.
Many people thought her "first date tests" sounded like a great idea. However, others weren't so happy with the dating technique.
Gabby kicks off the video by saying: "Here are some tests I play on men in order to see if they'll be able to provide and protect me. Because if they're not, I don't f***ing need them. You shouldn't either."
The first test Gabby puts in place is making sure that she isn't asked to split the bill. "First thing's first: him paying for the date. Let’s stop this conversation and the back and forth, the 50/50, the bulls***. First date, he needs to be paying 100 per cent. And if he's not, then goodbye," she says.
Next, she tests whether a man cares for her safety. If he doesn't ensure that she gets home alright after the date, that's another red flag. "Immediately no. If you don’t care about my safety and making sure I get into my Uber safely, you’re done," she says in the video, adding: "And then, if you don't go ahead and double check I made it safely? Bye."
"Men, you need to be walking her to her car, to her Uber, to wherever to make sure she gets home safely. And then text her making sure she gets home safely," Gabby explains.
The third and final test is making sure a man will look after her if she's cold. "When we're out, if you have, like, a jacket on, or some kind of overshirt, I will always, without a doubt, say that I'm cold. 'Cause I wanna see if you will give me the shirt off your back, and if you don’t, you’re dead to me," she says.
Gabby's date tests have divided viewers. Many think that they're a great idea. "Agreeeeeed. Any guy that has a problem with these is lacking in maturity," one user commented, while another added: "He needs to pay for *every date!!"
However, others thought that she was asking for too much.
"Men don’t need to provide and protect for every single woman that they meet. [You're] confusing a 1st date with a husband or serious boyfriend," one wrote.
"Test this test that. What are we in high school? Stop with the games and communicate!! Way too grown for all this," added another.
