A woman's interaction with an angry carpet fitter has sparked a serious debate on social media after she asked him for a quote at 12:15 AM.

"Hi, could I have a quote pls [sic]?" Evandra, an interior architectural designer from the UK, wrote in the message.

However, Evandra made the mistake of messaging the tradesman minutes after midnight, which he wasn't exactly thrilled about. In fact, he was absolutely fuming.

Throwing any pretense of politeness and decorum completely out of the window, the carpet fitter replied: "Here's a quote!! Who the f*** asks for carpets at 12.15 am?"

Undeniably shocked by the man's language, given that she was a potential customer, Evandra tweeted a screenshot of the exchange with the caption: "Loooll??? [sic] But what in the name of customer service have I just experienced [?]"

The tweet has since gone viral, with 172.1k likes, 11.4k retweets, and 2.1k quote tweets.

A customer argues with his milkman live on TV:

Those who responded to the tweet were divided on the matter. Many were on the side of the carpet fitter who felt he was well within his rights to react the way that he did. They suggested that Evandra should have messaged the man during working hours.

One wrote: "Y’all are mad disrespectful for others people’s time. Y’all ain’t the center of the universe you got what you deserved [sic]."

Another added: "Shorty really texted about business at 12:15 am and think the man shouldn’t be upset??? Bruh y’all are insane man."

A number of people had a different point of view - they argued that the carpet fitter could simply have ignored the message until the next day as opposed to unnecessarily being rude to a potential paying customer.

One person wrote: "Customers should text & email at any time they like. Be grateful for the potential work, turn off your work phone if you can't handle late notifications, and then reply during business hours. Why lose money and custom? Zero business aptitude!"

Another said: "If you own an actual business with a business line, email. You'd know the grey is wrong. There are many businesses that have calls from whatever time of day, emails at whatever time of day that simply respond during their business hours."

In a follow-up tweet, Evandra set up a poll to figure out once and for all who was in the wrong. At the time of writing, 59.2% think she was in the wrong, and 40.8% think it's the other way around.
