It's no secret that nursing homes have been ravaged by the coronavirus pandemic.
This has made life for those inside even harder, and now one woman has taken unusual action so that she could safely hug her mom in a nursing home.
In a video posted to Twitter on May 13, the woman can be seen wearing an inflatable hippo suit so that she can safely hug her loved one, who is a resident at Fox Trails Senior Living Home in Stephens City, Virginia
Watch the heartwarming clip below:"This is wonderful!" the elder woman exclaims.
The video's narrator, Katie Clifford, captioned it: "My mother-in-law hugging my grandmother in an inflatable hippo suit wearing a tutu is the content you needed today. Her nursing home is letting family members hug each other in these sterilized suits."
"This is pretty great. And also something we will look at in ten years and be like 'was this real life??'"
One Twitter user gushed: "I love this …. bringing a little tear. How amazing is this nursing home to get creative! Thanks for sharing."
A second remarked: "Very sweet."
However, this is far from the first time that someone has got creative during the pandemic so that they can embrace a loved one. A British 29-year-old, Antony Cauvin, created a "cuddle curtain" so that he could safely hug his grandma during the pandemic.
The cuddle curtain consisted of a shower curtain fitted with long safety sleeves, enabling two people to embrace without any skin-to-skin or breath contact.
Watch the cuddle curtain in action below:"When you've known someone all your life, to be able to hug that person again… it brought a tear to everybody's eye," Cauvin said, per the Metro.
"But we were also giggling that much, just because it seemed such a far-fetched and bonkers idea. We never touched any part of Grannan at all – I’m a believer in social distancing and don’t want to put anyone at risk."
