For most people, being deemed as having "the world's most beautiful face" would be the ultimate self-esteem boost. Just imagine having it confirmed to you - in black and white - that you're practically perfect.

Apparently, though, it isn't all it's cracked up to be for one very beautiful woman...

Yael Shelbia, the woman who topped TC Candler's annual "100 Most Beautiful Faces of the Year", has admitted to receiving her fair share of hateful comments as a result of the honor.

Speaking with The Sun's Fabulous, 19-year-old Yael said she was "very surprised, I didn't even know I was participating in this contest."

"It's very exciting and flattering," she added. I don't know why they chose me, I think beauty is so individual and all women are beautiful. It was very exciting and came just at the right time."

Unfortunately, while the Israeli teenager has been inundated with support and "suitor messages", she has also had "messages that weren't the nicest."

"They said the normal things that haters say, nothing worth any attention," she added.

But despite the hateful comments, the brunette beauty is doing very well, having bagged herself 200,000 new followers - which has taken her to 1.2 million.

"I think what makes a person beautiful is to be kind, humble and most of all - positive," Yael explained. "When you are good, it is really shown in your eyes and eyes never lie."

The striking model also confirmed she is dating Brandon Korff, the 36-year-old grandson of billionaire businessman Sumner Redstone.

"We have been together for a year," she says. "He is very happy for me."

Yael also talked about her love of traveling and hopes to continue doing so when coronavirus restrictions cool down.

"These days I'm preparing for season 2 of a youth series that will be aired here in Israel," she said. "I have several big projects I'm working on and once I finish here, I'm planning to go back to LA."

"LA is one of my favorite countries, I also really like Europe and traveling around. I used to travel regularly before the pandemic and can't wait to go back," Yael said.

"The favorite thing I like about my job is being able to get to know other cultures, different people and see so many amazing views."
