Given that it’s not even the end of August, you could be forgiven for getting irritated with anyone who mentions Christmas. Things are bad enough already, with the same 10 songs being on repeat from mid-November, without us worrying about snowmen gatecrashing our summer hols. However, sometimes someone creates a Christmassy something that’s so exciting, it warrants an extra special, if admittedly premature, mention.

According to a report in The Sun, the Christmas spirit(s) is already hitting supermarket shelves with the news that you can now buy a giant gin advent calendar from Costco. Complete with big-name brands like Beefeater, Hendrick's and Sipsmith, the calendar contains 24 separate 50ml bottles, making awkward encounters with unwelcome relatives that much easier to stomach.

Information on the Costco website reveals that the calendar works out at around £2.50 per bottle, and retails for a total cost of £59.89. The description describes that calendar as “an exciting countdown to Christmas,” before adding, “This Gin Advent Calendar contains 24 x 5cl miniature bottles, a hand-picked selection of gins which will give you the opportunity to sample your way to Christmas.”
