Looking in from the outside, it at first appeared that Meghan Markle had the fairytale life many people dream of.
However, eight months after she married Prince Harry in a lavish Windsor ceremony, the fantasy seems to have shattered, with story after story of the former actress' struggle with royal life published.
Now, it has been alleged that the Duchess of Sussex has been forced off Instagram after internet trolls wrote "vile comments" that left her feeling "isolated and alone".
The Suits star shut down all of her social media accounts in January 2018, shortly after announcing her engagement to Harry.
But, it appears she wasn't completely willing to let go of the online world, with an insider claiming that she created a "secret" Instagram account to follow all of her friends.
However, her endeavour to stay in the social media sphere reportedly failed after the "vile stuff" people wrote about her on Instagram affected her mental health.
A source apparently told The Sun: "Since she shut down her public Instagram, she'd had a fake account to follow her friends. There was some really vile stuff written by social media trolls and obviously, she also saw the headlines about her.
"It really got to her and, in the end, she had to shut down that account just before Christmas, too, to protect her mental health. She felt very isolated and alone."
The insider also claimed that the pregnant 37-year-old "doesn't feel safe enough to go out on her own without protection."
The new claims come after reports that new royal is finding it "frustrating and stressful" having "no voice" and finds the constraints of royal life "debilitating".
It is said that Meghan is feeling "miserable" in her new role, while Harry is "racked with guilt" as he feels he has failed to protect her from negativity.

If the reports are true, the pair does a wonderful job of hiding their struggles. This week, it was revealed that the loved-up couple had sent out thank you cards to everyone who had taken the time to wish them a happy Christmas in December.
The front of the card shows the couple beaming on their royal tour, as Harry makes a speech in the rain and Meghan holds up an umbrella to keep him dry.
One Instagrammer going by the name of @loopycrown3 uploaded their card, writing: "Lovely reply from TRH the Duke and Duchess of Sussex thanking me for sending my Christmas and New year wishes."

On the other side, the card read: "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, thank you for the very kind message you sent for Christmas. This was most thoughtful of you and greatly appreciated by Their Royal Highnesses who send their best wishes for Christmas, and for the New Year."
Let's hope Meghan and Harry find a way to keep smiling through all the negativity.

For quite a while now, we've been denied the unique experience of hanging out with Meghan Markle on Instagram.
Ever since news broke that she was dating Prince Harry - back then, thoughts of a Royal Wedding were but a mere pipe dream - Markle had started to remove herself from the public eye.
She signed off from her food blog The Tig, she left the USA television show Suits where she made her name, and wouldn't you know it, we missed her. Occasionally she'd appear in someone else's post or news of her awesomeness would get filtered through to us, but it... just isn't the same.
But, if you're one of those people who can't get enough of Harry and Meghan, then boy, do I have news for you: the pair are launching their own Instagram account!
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, 34 and 37 respectively, announced the launch of a Sussex Royal account, which will be run independently of the account for Harry's brother Prince William and Kate Middleton.
Although it's already racked up 290,000 followers in such a short space of time, there's only one photo so far - this one, of the pair's joint monogram, plus a montage of the amazing moments the couple have already shared together:
[[instagramwidget||https://www.instagram.com/p/BvwZTPgBsvT/]]
They captioned the post:
"Welcome to our official Instagram; we look forward to sharing the work that drives us, the causes we support, important announcements, and the opportunity to shine a light on key issues. We thank you for your support, and welcome you to @sussexroyal."
People, as you might imagine, are going pretty crazy for the news. Let's just take a sample of the comments on this one. "Finally, the one and only account that will present informative, accurate and truly 'need to know' information. Thank-you for sharing with us on this social media platform. Best wishes to you both!" said @kirstin_davidson, while @ivan_maina wrote: "very happy to see you guys get your own pages!"
What's more: even the official Instagram Instagram account got in on the act, showing the necessary deference for the Royal Couple. "Ummm... hello! Welcome ❤️ We are so happy you are here," Instagram wrote on Instagram, and it's safe to say that everyone's thrilled to see Harry and Meghan on the social media site!
This news comes hot on the heels that Harry and Meghan would be getting their own royal household, separate from that of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

According to Emily Nash at HELLO! Magazine, the Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's royal household "will ensure that permanent support arrangements for the Duke and Duchess's work are in place as they start their family and move to their official residence at Frogmore Cottage."
Well, Harry and Meghan fans, what are you waiting for? If you've got an itching desire to learn more about the inner lives of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, there's only one Instagram account you should be following.

The world still isn't over the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot two weeks ago, in a gorgeous ceremony held at St George's Chapel in Windsor. It certainly was a memorable day; there was Meghan Markle's striking Givenchy gown, the statement she made by choosing to walk herself partly down the aisle, and then there was how adorably nervous the now-Duke of Sussex looked throughout the wedding.
Now, while this is a joyous time, the people of the world still have a loss to mourn: that of England's most eligible royal bachelor. But before we get too caught up, rest assured that there are still a number of other royals out there. Case in point: Prince Carl Philip of Sweden, who recently made his Instagram public for our viewing pleasure.

What a dreamboat, eh?
The Prince is 39-years-old this year, and is (unfortunately) married with two children. However, that shouldn't stop you from vicariously living through his perfect life, as his wife Princess Sophia and their children are adorable.
Earlier in May, Carl Philip posted a selfie to Instagram of himself and Princess Sophia to announce their newly public profile. "Welcome to our official Instagram account," the caption reads. "As you can see, we have already posted photos for a while to give you an insight into our work."

After scrolling through Carl Philip's Instagram feed, you can see the two royals hard at work on several charitable causes, amidst family photographs of their two young children, Prince Alexander and Prince Gabriel. Back in September, the couple posted a sweet photo of a newborn Gabriel with his older brother.

The royals also make it clear that they don't lead such different lives to us. See this candid family photo that they took on Valentine's Day...

Prince Carl Philip is currently fourth in line to the Swedish throne, coming in behind his older sister and her two children. He married Sofia Hellqvist, a former glamour model and reality television star, on the 13th of June 2015, at Stockholm's Royal Palace chapel.
The couple and their children have previously been featured on the Swedish Royal Family's official Instagram account, which is public. That Instagram feed is responsible for sharing highlights from each member of the family, including Carl Philip's parents, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, as well as his two siblings, Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Madeleine.

While Meghan Markle was famously required to delete all of her social media accounts ahead of her ascension into the British royal family, it's evident that royal families across the globe are making an active effort to keep up with the rest of the world, and to modernise their public persona. Earlier this year, Princess Eugenie joined Instagram, and an actual Queen is also on Instagram: Queen Rania of Jordan has an eye-watering 4.5 million followers.
Here's hoping that Queen Elizabeth is the next one to take to the social media platform...

When Prince Harry saw his bride, Meghan Markle, for the first time as she walked down the aisle at their wedding last month, practically every girl on the planet collectively swooned, sighed and thought "why can't that be me?"
There's no denying that the royal couple is completely adorable, and about as in love as a couple can be - and things only seem to get cuter when it comes to those two.

The latest perfect rom-com moment in our saga? Meghan Markle's comments about what it's like being married to Prince Harry. During her excursion with the Queen, the former Suits star was asked what it's like to have the ginger-haired royal as a husband, and she had the sweetest response.
According to the Daily Mail's royal correspondent, Rebecca English, the Duchess of Sussex revealed that Harry was, in her opinion, the "best husband ever", making her proclamation with a smile. In addition, she told wellwishers married life was "wonderful". You jealous? Me neither...

Her trip with Queen Elizabeth marks the first royal event she hasn't attended with Prince Harry. But lucky, things appear to be going swimmingly, with the pair giggling their way through the days. In fact, they practically look like BFFs already, with Meghan and her new grandmother seen sharing jokes and engaging with the public, who had lined the streets for their visit.
In addition, the 36-year-old appears to be getting along great with her royal duties. Kaleigh Watterson, a BBC reporter at the scene stated that "Meghan seemed like a natural in her new royal role and looked genuinely happy as she stopped to chat and shake hands with those assembled; many of them hadn't expected she would have time to speak to them and were visibly moved."
Alison Green, 49, who is originally from the UK but now lives in Virginia, USA, also spoke of her delight at seeing the Duchess in the flesh. Speaking to the BBC, she stated: "I landed yesterday to see mum and dad and decided to come down today. I'm mainly looking forward to seeing Meghan as I want to make my friends at home jealous!"
Another royal fan Sharon Briscoe, 61, apparently got to see Meghan’s wedding ring. Sharon, said: "I was actually stunned by how beautiful she is in the flesh. I asked her how married life was and she said 'wonderful', and then I told her how gorgeous she looked at her wedding and that both her and Harry look made for each other to which she replied 'Thank you, that means so much to us both'".

So, what's next on the agenda for the brand new royal? The Duchess of Sussex has an exciting agenda lined up which sees her heading to Australia, Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga and New Zealand, among other places, in the Autumn with Prince Harry. Considering how splendidly she's been doing so far, we'll 100 per cent sure she'll nail her next set of royal engagements.

It was the day that Meghan Markle's life will change forever. The former-actress married into the famous family on Earth and became a member of the royal family in the UK. It would be safe to say that since the build-up began, Meghan has divided opinion due to her past, but she has re-invigorated this family, bringing them into the 20th century by becoming the first person of colour in the family as well as going against their traditional and archaic conventions.
While Meghan may be leading the family into the modern age, she will have to conform to certain conventions. There is a list of things that Meghan will not be able to do once she becomes a royal; with some being much more bizarre than others. So, in light of the big day, here's a host of everyday things that Meghan will no longer be able to do.
Take Selfies
While she may have taken selfies with fans during her time in Suits, Meghan will have to refuse now that she is a royal. According to The Mirror, Meghan had told a couple in Nottingham that "we're not allowed to do selfies." It's believed that The Queen isn't a fan of the modern trend, with her labelling them as "disconcerting" and "strange".
Go out alone
Meghan will now constantly be surrounded by heavy security at all times. Being part of the most famous family in the world, she will no longer be able to go out or a jog in the park or a walk alone to clear her head.
Have social media
Meghan's social media presence has pretty much disappeared over the past few months. In the last few years, she had built up a following of over three million followers on Instagram and used to post images of herself regularly. However, since shutting down her website The Tig in April 2017, Meghan hasn't posted on her Instagram.
Like all of the other royals, the public will now be updated on Meghan's activities through the Kensington Palace Instagram account.
Vote
While she may be a British citizen, Meghan is not allowed to vote in elections. According to the parliament website: "Although not prohibited by law, it is considered unconstitutional for the Monarch to vote in an election.”
Wear dark nail varnish
According to OK! Magazine, coloured nail varnish and fake nails are not part of royal etiquette and are seen as "vulgar." On the rare occasion that they do paint their nails, they have to be a nude shade.
Sign autographs
Members of the royal family are not permitted to sign autographs for people, with Prince Charles once telling a fan: "Sorry, they don't allow me to do that."
However, they are allowed to sign visitor books on official engagements as well as official documents.
Go to bed before The Queen
When sharing a house or castle with Her Majesty, guests don't "feel right" about excusing themselves before The Queen is done for the night. So, if Lizzy is on an absolute mad one till 6am, Meghan is going to have to join in as well.
So, while being a royal may seem like the ideal life, it turns out that you are fairly limited in being able to do regular day-to-day activities. Poor old Meghan, hey?
