Even though their heyday was way back in the 1990s, several of the Spice Girls are still finding ways to be relevant in 2017. The most successful (but arguably least musically talented) out of all of them has to be Posh Spice, better known now as Victoria Beckham. As the wife of
, she does quite well to get her name in the papers on a frequent basis.
Other members of the band who managed to draw out their fame a little longer are Baby Spice (Emma Bunton), who is now a radio host and TV presenter, and Ginger Spice (Geri Halliwell), who actually released a new single this year.
One of the quieter members of the group is Mel B, otherwise known as Scary Spice. Since the Spice Girls parted ways, she's mostly stayed out of the public eye.
That was until last week, when the former singer really lived up to her alter ego by revealing that she'd done something pretty horrifying.

Like many people, Mel had a tattoo of her husband's name on her body. I say "had" because, well, she sliced it off.
Originally, the tribute to her other half read, "Stephen, till death do us part you own my heart." However, since the couple experienced a rather messy breakup, the Spice Girl did what any self-respecting person would do, and got rid of his name once and for all.
Speaking of her drastic decision to erase the name, she said: "I wanted the tattoo removed to help close the final chapter on a toxic relationship. Even though I’ve taken the steps to remove Stephen’s name from my body, the domestic abuse will forever remain with me."
The couple married in 2007, but divorced in March this year due to "irreconcilable differences". Since then, Mel B - whose full name is Melanie Brown - has claimed that she was the victim of domestic violence at Stephen's hands.
The former Spice Girl has also been caught up in a rather vicious custody battle with her ex, as the pair have a six-year-old daughter together. Apparently, they've finally settled on joint custody of the child now, as they both believe she deserves two parents.
By contrast, then, deciding on what to do with her tattoo didn't seem to be much of a difficult choice. She decided to keep everything other than her ex-husband's name, saying that she may one day replace it with someone else's.
The process was done with local anesthetic and a surgical blade, rather than the traditional laser removal method.
The scarring from the operation is pretty intense, but it should heal up enough to cover over in a matter of years.
If nothing else, hopefully her story will be a lesson to others who are considering getting their partner's name inked across their body. After all, relationships might come and go, but tattoos are pretty much a lifetime commitment.
