Actor
Kevin Spacey has been
slandered in Hollywood after he came out as gay after sexual assault allegations were made against him by actor Anthony Rap, who claimed to be only 14 at the time of the incident. After this initial accusation,
a second Hollywood-figure came forward with his own story of Spacey's unwanted advances.
A handful more people came forward with stories about the 58-year-old, before eight people who worked with him on his most recent Netflix project House of Cards complained about inappropriate behaviour from the man. As a result,
Netflix decided to boot the actor from the show, saying in a statement: "Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey".
And now in some very big news, Spacey has been fully dropped from a new film he starred in, set to be released in just over one month. The film – titled All The Money In The World – is being directed by Ridley Scott, and it was fully finished already.

People are saying it's completely unprecedented for an actor to be kicked off a production that's already been cut together. It's the first time something like this has done before, especially since they're staying ambitious to keep the December 22 release date.
Spacey's character in the crime thriller was J Paul Getty, an oil tycoon who is a pivotal character in the story. The film was finished, ready to go, like – literally completo. And now, all of Spacey's scenes will be reshot with Canadian actor Christopher Plummer.

Sony Pictures executives, as well as the cast and crew working on the film, agreed in a
“unified front” that they should redo all of Spacey’s scenes, according to Deadline. Other actors starring in the film who might also have to reshoot scenes with the replacement actor include Michelle Pfeiffer and Mark Wahlberg.
Even though Space only worked around ten days on the film, he still played a key character central to the plot. It means the marketing material will also have to be updated, including promotional posters, ads and trailers for the film.

Veteran actor Plummer is said to be ready to reshoot bits of the film immediately. The 87-year-old is known for his role as Captain Von Trapp in The Sound of Music, and as the voice of Charles Muntz in Pixar's Up. Plummer was actually the first preference to take on the role of Getty, before producers decided they would rather go with a more high-profile name.
The crime thriller follows the story of John Paul Getty III, the grandson of the original J Paul Getty who will now be played by Plummer. The boy is abducted at age 16 in 1973, and his grandfather refuses to pay the ransom for a long time – making for quite a gripping story.

Re-shooting and editing parts of the movie will incur extra production costs, although ultimately, it can also be seen as a commercial motive to cut Spacey from the film, given that people would be less reluctant to see and support the film if he was in it. While it's a bold move by the filmmakers, it sets a good example of making a morally-informed decision, standing for what's right. Hats off to them.
