It has been revealed that Tammy Slaton, one of the stars of 1000-lb Sisters, was hospitalized after she "quit breathing."

According to an exclusive teaser released by PEOPLE, we can see the extent of the medical complications the 36-year-old was facing especially after they led to breathing difficulties.

In one part of the clip, "her body shut down," says Tammy's sister, Amy Slaton.

We then see Tammy getting a tracheotomy - which is a surgical procedure that creates a hole in the throat to insert a breathing tube - in order to support her.

Speaking to her doctor later on, the reality TV star asks if she can get approval for her bariatric surgery, to which Dr. Eric Smith replies: "I told you Tammy, you have real risks," before her brother Chris chimes in saying: "If she doesn't get the surgery, she's gonna die because of her weight."

In another clip, we can see doctors shouting that her "oxygen is dropping" before rushing to her side.

Tammy's family has no choice but to watch on, fearing that "she's gonna end up dead."

However, one thing we do know is that Tammy did end up losing enough weight to undergo her surgery thanks to some recent videos posted on her TikTok account.

Posting to the platform, Tammy initially gave her 322,000 followers a look at her drastic weight loss results via a festive lip-syncing video.

And just a few days later, she also uploaded another similar video showing off her new look.

The 36-year-old rose to fame back in 2020 on TLC's reality TV show 1000-lb Sisters where she - along with her sibling, Amy - gave us a glimpse into their lives as medically overweight women.

The show followed the sisters' daily antics as well as their future prospects; Amy wanted to have children but could not due to her weight issues, while her older sister Tammy was fighting the issue of being permanently bedridden due to the sheer mass of her body.

The news comes just ahead of the fourth instalment of 1000-lb Sisters which is set to hit our screens on January 17.

As per PEOPLE, this season is going to track their medical journeys, from fertility complications to, as we've just seen, breathing issues.

The new season of 1000-lb Sisters premieres Tuesday, January 17 at 9:00PM ET.
