Baba Vanga may have passed away in 1996, but her predictions for catastrophic world events have been scarily accurate.

Known by her birth name, Vangeliya Pandeva Gushterova, her prophetic visions have persisted, proving eerily accurate over the years. Hailing from Bulgaria, her mystic abilities reportedly manifested during a storm that robbed her of eyesight at the tender age of 12.

Dubbed the 'Nostradamus of the Balkans,' Baba Vanga's reputed accuracy rate of 85% continues to send shivers down spines as her predictions unfold beyond her lifetime, according to the Mirror.

Let's take a look back at what she has predicted.

In 1989, she ominously predicted: "Horror, Horror! The American brethren will fall after being attacked by the steel birds." The chilling reference to "steel birds" turned out to be the hijacked planes used by Al-Qaeda in the devastating 9/11 attacks in 2001.

The sinking of the Kursk

In 1980, Baba envisioned a tragic event in which the Russian city of Kursk would be "covered with water, and the whole world will weep over it." In August 2000, 188 crew members lost their lives when a nuclear submarine sank near Kursk, validating her foresight.

Trump's controversial reign

Allegedly foreseeing Donald Trump's presidency, she warned: "He will bring the country down, and conflicts between north and south states will escalate." Some may see this as false, while for others it will ring true.

Baba apparently foresaw Barack Obama becoming the 44th U.S. president and making history as the first Black president. However, her prediction came with a haunting twist, claiming he would also be the last.

Climate catastrophes

For 2022, Baba Vanga predicted extreme weather events, including large-scale droughts and water shortages in major cities worldwide. Her vision proved accurate as the UK experienced its driest July since 1935, declaring drought on August 12. Similar droughts afflicted France, Italy, and Portugal, while floods hit Australia and Asia, aligning with her predictions.

Indira Gandhi's tragic fate

Baba's accuracy extended to the political realm, with a premonition about Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. In 1969, she claimed: "The dress will destroy her. I see an orange-yellow dress in the smoke and fire." In 1984, Gandhi was assassinated while wearing a saffron-colored saree during a military attack on the Golden Temple.

Not only this, but Baba allegedly predicted the death of Princess Diana, who passed away in 1997 after she was involved in a car crash in France.

The New York Post also claims that she predicted the Covid-19 pandemic and the Chernobyl disaster.

Now that we've focussed on what she's got right, what did Baba say about the upcoming year of 2o24?

For starters, it's going to be a bad year for Russian President Vladimir Putin who she claimed will be assassinated. Though given that he is a man who likes to be in control, it's doubtful that he'll put any stock into her claims.

It's looking to be quite a bleak year if Baba is correct as she also predicted that Europe will be subjected to a wave of terror attacks as well as there being a major economic crisis which will pile on top of the already extortionate cost of living.

Let's hope she isn't correct about 2024...
