Actor Ben Affleck has decided to head back into rehab. The actor, 46, is seeking help with his alcohol addiction.
It's being widely reported that the move to enter the rehab facility came after Ben's ex-girlfriend and fellow actor, Jennifer Garner, turned up at his home on Wednesday to perform an intervention.
Speaking to PEOPLE, a source said: “He is seeking treatment. He knew he needed help and was vocal about it.”
Garner was seen leaving Affleck's house looking visibly upset and shaken. Upon returning to the property, Garner, Affleck, and an unidentified woman who arrived with Garner, were seen driving away in a car driven by the Peppermint star.
It's believed that the trio stopped at a Jack In The Box in the Pacific Palisades before the mother-of-three drove the troubled actor to a treatment facility in Malibu.
The news comes after Affleck was pictured on Monday receiving an alcohol delivery outside of his Brentwood, California, home. The Justice League actor was spotted in a dark grey t-shirt and sweatpants and he picked up a Pacifico beer branded box that appeared to be filled with Johnnie Walker Blue Label scotch whisky in a blue case alongside other unidentifiable bottles.
Affleck's addiction to alcohol has been well-known for a number of years and the actor, 46, has been going to regular treatment sessions and meetings in order to combat it. However, his new flame, a 22-year-old Playboy Playmate called Shauna Sexton, recently told the magazine that her go-to drink is "whiskey all day."
“Bourbon, for sure,” she added. “I like whiskey and soda, which makes people cringe, but I like it.”
According to a source close to the couple, Garner’s focus remains on their children. “Is she happy about him hanging out with a very young Playboy model? Certainly not,” the source said.
“But her concern right now is not who he is dating. What she ultimately cares about is his sobriety and whether she can rely on him to co-parent.”
This isn't Affleck's first time in rehab, he first entered a treatment facility in 2001. Then, in March 2017, Affleck announced that he had completed treatment for alcohol addiction. “I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront,” he wrote on Facebook.
“I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be. I want my kids to know there is no shame in getting help when you need it, and to be a source of strength for anyone out there who needs help but is afraid to take the first step.
"I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.”
Hopefully, given that he is now in full-time rehab, Ben can finally defeat his demons.
