Two black FedEx workers have said they were fired after posting a video of a racist customer to social media.
The incident happened after the two men had driven up to a customer's house to deliver a package, and when they went to leave, the man had ran outside "cursing and threatening" them.
What happened was made public by one of the drivers who identified himself as Antonio on Twitter, who revealed that he was making deliveries with his partner Felinzay in Georgia when the incident occurred.
Watch the incident below:"FedEx called and told me to take down this video and fired both of us today," he wrote. "I'm reposting this video because people like him, doesn't matter white or any race, should never disrespect essential workers putting their lives in jeopardy especially with this Covid-19."
Antonio said they pair apologized and the man replied that he was going to "whoop [their] black as**s."
The white man then asked his wife to call the police.
Antonio and Felinzay went to leave, but they decided to record the scene after the man swore at them.
In the video above Felinzay argues with the white man, saying "You didn't have to come out there cussing me like that, like I'm some child. I ain't no little boy."
The video ends when police officers arrived at the scene and asked Antiono what was going on.
When the caucasian customer was questioned about the incident, he said the men "look like they would've [broken] into my house while my wife [was] there."
After posting the footage, Antonio took to Twitter again to write: "FedEx called and told me to take down this video and fired both of us Today .. I’m reposting this video because people like him doesn’t matter white or any race should never disrespect essential workers putting their lives in jeopardy especially with this covid-19 [sic]."
After Antonio's update, #BoycottFedEx began trending on Twitter after social media users were outraged at the reported treatment of the two men.
The company initially confirmed that the men had been fired by their independent service provider FedEx Ground, but they soon backtracked on their decision and Antonio and Felinzay were given their jobs back.
They wrote in a tweet: "We are aware of the incident in GA that led to the release of two drivers employed by a service provider. We're offering employment while investigating to ensure an appropriate outcome. We take seriously allegations of discrimination, retaliation, or improper employment actions."
Meanwhile, people have set up a GoFundMe to help the men recoup the income they have lost as a result of the incident.
