A Black woman has been showered with support after she was told she was "not the right color" by her white neighbor.
Virginia-born Hilary Langlois was instantly fired from her job for the remark she made to her Black neighbor Laquetta Good, who was identified and interviewed by Daily Mail.
Good was standing on her porch in Colonial Heights when the altercation took place.
Langlois told her: "You are not the right color, honey."
She could then be heard yelling back "Yes, you are," after Good asked: "I'm a n*****?"
After the ordeal, which was filmed by a security camera in Good's home, Good took to Facebook to provide the backstory for what had happened.
She wrote:
"Let's rewind back to the beginning when she called the police to search my house for drugs because her words were I couldn’t afford my house, I never leave the house so I had to sell drugs because I’m black and had a Porsche.
"Yes the POLICE SURE DID SEARCH MY HOUSE FOR DRUGS SMH. No drugs were found I work from home!! This has been going on for MONTHS."
Good later told the Daily Mail that Langlois' comment was part of an ongoing problem because her children don't get along with hers.
Admitting she feels like a "prisoner in my own home", Good said: "She has called me many names before but to hear her being racist, that really shocked me.
"You should be able to feel comfortable in your own home. This is not acceptable. We still have a long way to go as a society for equality."
After the ordeal, Good has been flooded with messages of support from social media users who watched the video.
After she shared her post on Facebook, one person wrote: "You good? This is discrimination."
Another wrote: "Yesssss send all they a** Law suit for disturbing your peace and then violating your privacy."
While a third added: "Wow...that's crazy... discrimination...Hope you're ok."
Langlois was later fired from Chesterfield Food Bank after the video emerged on social media.
CEO Kim Hill told The Progress Index that it was a "sad and unfortunate situation".
The food bank Langlois worked at later wrote in a Facebook post:
"We want to thank everyone for reaching out to us in regards to the video and story that was posted this morning regarding a confrontation between an individual and one of our employees in their neighborhood .
"We, here at the CFB, are broken-hearted to view this conduct as it goes directly against our values and beliefs. We are honored to serve everyone in need with dignity & integrity. In response to this situation, we have terminated this employee.
"We remain committed to creating and providing a positive, uplifting, and encouraging environment for our staff, volunteers, and clients."
