Brandi Mallory's cause of death has been revealed after the Extreme Weight Loss star was reportedly found dead in a Chipotle parking lot.
As previously reported, the Atlanta Police Department disclosed that the 40-year-old was last seen on November 8 in surveillance footage, according to details obtained by TMZ.
Allegedly, Mallory visited the fast-food restaurant at approximately 5:53PM, acquired her food, and returned to her car. However, she never left the parking lot or exited her vehicle.
A deli owner nearby reported to the police that he noticed a solitary vehicle in the strip mall parking lot on the morning of November 9, with a woman inside who appeared to be sleeping.
Concerned, the owner contacted the authorities when he observed the unchanged situation later in the day. Mallory was subsequently found dead in the car.
As reported by People, the Fulton County Medical Examiner's completed autopsy report, released on Tuesday, attributes Mallory's death to complications of obesity.
The official document categorizes the manner of death as "natural," emphasizing that no evidence of significant recent injury was found, and the investigation ruled out foul play.
The report also acknowledges the presence of trace amounts of marijuana and alcohol in her system but states that this had no involvement in her passing.
Mallory gained recognition during her appearance on season four of Extreme Weight Loss in 2014, where she candidly discussed her weight struggles.
At her heaviest, she weighed around 329 lbs, but she later participated in the Half Ironman fitness challenge, showcasing her determination by swimming, biking, and running for a combined 70.3 miles in less than eight hours.
Post-show, Mallory continued her fitness journey through dance, sharing her passion with her 138K followers on Instagram.
Friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil on November 12 to honor Mallory's memory.
Extreme Weight Loss Season 5 contestant Kim Williams Maxile paid tribute to Mallory on Instagram, saying: "Rest in Love sis.
"To my fellow Extreme Weight Loss @extweightloss sis, @brandimallory you will be missed. I’ll never forget while I was at boot camp for season 5 we watched your season and it inspired us to keep going. our episode was my favorite because we had so much in common from pageants to being a makeup artist and just a love of life.
"You truly made an impact on this world with your zest and your passion for body positivity. I’m blessed to have gotten to experience you in this world," she added.
Former Extreme Weight Loss trainer and host Chris Powell expressed his grief to People, describing Mallory as "a bright, shining light for everybody around her."
Powell highlighted Mallory's role as a dance instructor and a promoter of body positivity on social media, noting her impactful contribution to the movement.
"That girl could dance. And she always brought that energy with everything that we were doing," Powell reminisced. "She really owned the body positivity movement.
"It was great because she was very open about her struggles with her weight and everything, but the fact that she would just get out there and she would just fully express herself, you could feel how free she was. And that in turn inspired so many other people to jump on board to accept and embrace and appreciate their bodies."
Our thoughts continue to be with Mallory's loved ones.
