A woman stated that her mother should go to jail after her children died while under her care less than a year apart.
As previously reported, Kaila Nix was left devastated when her 16-month-old son, Ezra Schock, lost his life after drowning in a pond at his grandmother's house.
Less than a year later, her seven-month-old daughter Uriel Schock lost her life in the backseat of a vehicle that was parked outside the same house after her grandmother "forgot" that she was there after attending lunch with her friends in November, as per CNN.
The grandmother, 65-year-old Tracey Nix, is a former Florida principal who was entrusted to look after Uriel while her mother attended a hair appointment.
The 65-year-old still remained trustworthy in the eyes of the children's parents after the investigation into Ezra's death concluded that it was an accident.
"We were anxious, but I loved my mother and I am a daughter that wanted her mom in her life in some capacity, and in that moment, I thought that I could believe in second chances," Kaila told CNN.
"When I was told that Ezra’s death was an accident, some sliver child part of me, thought, okay good, I get to keep this mom. This grandmother. This person."
It was after Uriel's tragic passing after being left unattended in the backseat of an SUV that Kaila was informed that there were attempts to file charges of child neglect against the 65-year-old for the death of Ezra.
During an emotional interview with WSVN, the grieving mother opened up about how she wishes to see her own mother put behind bars.
"If I’m objective - she needs to go to prison. As her daughter, it kills me to say it. As their mother, I demand it," Kaila told the outlet.
When discussing why they are sharing their story, Drew Schock - Ezra and Uriel's father - said: "I want justice for my son. I want justice because he didn’t get that. And now I got to sit here and expose this. That way, I don’t let what happened to my son happen with my daughter. And just get off scot-free because I couldn’t live with that as a parent."

Kaila opened up about her heartbreak to CNN, stating: "To think of the last moments of her life as a mother is gut-wrenching," with Uriel's father, Drew, adding: "And that it actually just f***ing happened twice. In our lifetime."
Tracey's lawyer, William Fletcher, has stated that the grandmother is "devastated" about the deaths of the two children. If she is found guilty of the deaths of the two infants, she could face between 12 to 30 years in jail.
