A potential juror asked to be dismissed from the trial of Parkland school shooter Nikolas Cruz because she needed to keep her "sugar daddy" happy.

The married woman - identified only as Ms. Bristol - claimed that she could miss out on $8,000 a month if she were to sit on the jury instead of fulfilling her extra-marital obligations.

In a moment that has since gone viral, the woman shamelessly told Judge Elizabeth Scherer that it simply wasn't possible for her to take part in the months-long trial, in which it will be decided whether Cruz gets the death penalty.

Ms. Bristol began by protesting that the trial conflicted with several birthdays for her.

"First of all let me clarify myself, July second is my birthday, July Fourth is my son, and the 18th is my other son," she told the judge.

She went on to say that the trial would also get in the way of her livelihood, saying: "Well, I am married and I have my sugar daddy. I see him every day."

Judge Elizabeth Scherer appeared baffled but went on to dismiss the potential juror, per the Daily Mail.

During an interview with a local TV station on Saturday, Ms. Bristol expanded on her reasons - adding that she could lose her house if she doesn't keep her sugar daddy happy.

"It's all day for six months and what's my hardship? I need my sugar daddy money," she told WPLG, adding that she gets around $8,000 a month from him.

"If I do this case for six months, I have a hardship that means my sugar daddy can’t support me," she said. The case is expected to stretch from June to September.

While Ms. Bristol may be a firm no, jury selection continues for Cruz's trial, which will require a total of 12 jurors and eight alternatives. MailOnline reports that a total of 147 jurors have advanced to the next round of questioning.

The school shooter, 23, killed 17 people at a South Florida high school in 2018 while he was a student there. He has since confessed to all of the murders, making him responsible for the deadliest school killing spree in US history.
