Prepare to feel immeasurable sadness.
Dogs are without a doubt one of the greatest gifts to mankind, and anytime one is even remotely sad it's enough to reduce anyone with a heart to tears.
Sadly, not every dog is shown the love that they truly deserve, including the heartbroken pooch in this tragic tale.
Sora, a recently adopted dog, found herself back at Valley Animal Center in California mere hours after what seemed like the beginning of her forever home journey after already having spent 900 days looking for a home.
As reported by Newsweek, having spent a staggering 900 days at the Valley Animal Center, her adoption was initially celebrated as a triumph. However, the elation was short-lived as news of her return to the shelter surfaced, leaving staff and well-wishers disheartened.
"Sora arrived at the Valley Animal Center about two and a half years ago. Her previous owner surrendered her to the shelter, and that marked the beginning of her long journey to finding an adoptive home," shared Sim Kaur, a representative from the shelter.
Despite Sora's endearing qualities and unwavering enthusiasm for life, finding her a permanent home proved to be a prolonged endeavor.
"Sora is a high-energy dog who loves to play and gets super excited anytime she gets to go on walks," Kaur explained. "She’s great on walks and hikes, making her a good traveling companion. She also loves playing with tennis balls."
Adding to Sora's appeal, Kaur highlighted her affable nature towards humans and her positive interactions with children over the age of five.
The brief interlude of joy following Sora's adoption was shattered when her new owner made the heart-wrenching decision to return her to the shelter after a mere day.
Expressing the emotional toll of such a setback, Kaur lamented: "Being in a shelter for many years affects the mental health of our adoptables and it is no different for Sora. Sora did not get enough time to decompress in her new home and was introduced to new family members too quickly."
Nevertheless, amidst the disappointment, there remains a glimmer of hope for Sora's future.
"Although Sora does well with other dogs at the shelter, she is dog-selective, so we recommend she go to a home where she is the only pet," Kaur revealed optimistically. "With her high energy, her future home will need to spend dedicated time with her for training."
I truly hope that Sora finds her forever home soon.
