Amy Bradley's brother has one complaint about the new Netflix documentary that centers around her disappearance.
Netflix’s gripping three-part docuseries Amy Bradley is Missing has captivated global audiences with the tragic mystery of a young woman who vanished from a cruise ship in 1998.
Now ranked among the platform’s most-watched titles, the documentary has sparked emotional responses and fresh questions - especially from Amy’s own family, who both praised and critiqued the show’s portrayal of their decades-long search for answers.
Amy Bradley, 23, was vacationing with her family aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise when she disappeared without a trace.
The Virginia native had spent the evening dancing at the ship’s nightclub before deciding to sleep on the cabin’s balcony due to seasickness. When her father checked on her the next morning, she was gone.
Her brother Brad told WWBT’s 12 On Your Side: “She said, ‘I’m going to stay out here on the chaise lounge and a lot of fresh air and wind. I don’t want to go in a closed room right now.’ So, I told her I loved her.”
Brad revealed Amy must have returned to the room at some point because “a shirt she was wearing was laid across one of the chairs."
The disappearance triggered an international investigation and countless leads, yet no trace of Amy has ever been found.
Authorities initially suspected Amy had fallen overboard, but she was a trained lifeguard and strong swimmer, and the ship was close to land. The waters were searched by the Venezuelan Coast Guard and Navy, who found nothing.
Other theories are that she may have been smuggled off the boat and taken away against her will, and potentially become a victim of sex trafficking.
The documentary brings renewed attention to her case, featuring interviews with the Bradley family, eyewitnesses, and experts who revisit the circumstances surrounding her disappearance on the ship en route to Curaçao.
But while the show has raised much-needed awareness, Brad Bradley has voiced his frustration over key omissions.
Posting on X (formerly Twitter), he wrote: “Yes, we support it, but it was not a complete account and left out quite a bit of information. It would have required 10 seasons to tell it all, but we thought the producers did an awesome job overall and are happy with the response so far.”
In a follow-up, he added: “For 27 years, my family has searched for Amy. We will not stop.
"The Netflix docuseries Amy Bradley is Missing is shining a light on her story and we need your help to follow leads and find answers.”
He included a GoFundMe link to help fund ongoing efforts to locate Amy, including travel, expert consultations, and legal support.
