After returning to our screens for a much-anticipated Christmas special last year, the BBC has confirmed plans for Gavin & Stacey to return in the future.
Sadly, new episodes won't be hitting our screens for Christmas 2020, but Director of BBC Television Charlotte Moore has said that the beloved sitcom will return to our screens.
"That wasn't something that was going to happen this year," she said. "One day."
According to the Radio Times, last year's festive special drew an astounding 18 million viewers in the UK, leaving the country on a cliffhanger as the show ended with Nessa proposing to Smithy.
Earlier this year, both the sitcom's writers - James Cordon and Ruth Jones - have had rather unclear answers when asked about the future of the show.

Talking to press at this year's National Television Awards, Jones said: "They [fans] ask if there’s going to be any more and the answer is I genuinely don’t know.
"It was difficult to get together to write [the 2019 Christmas special] and to find time when everybody was available for the filming period, so there are a lot of hurdles to overcome.
"And also, there’s something nice about leaving it hanging in the air and wondering ‘did they ever get married, or didn’t they?’ So, we’ll see."
In addition, Cordon - who is best known in the US for hosting The Late Late Show - told the BBC back in February: "I'm being completely honest, there are no plans to do any more because a lot of it is about time and distance.
"I think Ruth and I, if we ever were going to do any, we approach it in the same manner we did the last one to try and just do it on our own and see if we felt we had something that wouldn't ruin it.
"Because it's all well and good people saying that they would like another one, and that is hugely flattering, but they only want one that doesn't tarnish it in any way. So we're going to really try our best to give it some thought at the least, but there is no plans - as it stands right now - to ever make another one."
It seems like everybody wants it to happen, it's just finding the time to make it happen!
