This morning the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, whatever the hell that is, announced the nominations for the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards. They acknowledge outstanding achievements in film and television, which sounds pretty boring, However,  the ceremony is famous for being the biggest party of awards show season, as all the stars cut loose and get drunk on champagne. So, there will probably be many entertaining moments, like when Dakota Fanning had an amazing reaction to Angelina Jolie ignoring Jennifer Aniston.

In film, Adam McKay's satirical Dick Cheney biopic Vice led the front of the pack, with six nominations. The project stars Christian Bale as the former Vice President, and he looks nearly unrecognizable in the role. Following Vice, The Favourite (period comedy-drama with Emma Stone), A Star Is Born (Bradley Cooper and Lady GaGa's musical romance), and The Green Book (comedy-drama about the 1960s American South) each scored five nominations. And in television, The Assassination Of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story led the nominees with six.

As always, there were some major snubs and surprises. I mean, how could there not be? There's more content available to consume now than ever before. I feel like as soon as I finish watching one critically acclaimed show, five more sprout up. So, you will probably find something to be upset about on this list. (No Better Call Saul?! No Sam Elliott for A Star Is Born?! No Toni Collette for Hereditary?) But you will also probably find something to be happy about. (Black Panther! The Good Place! Rami Malek for Bohemian Rhapsody!)

The ceremony airs January 6 on NBC, and will be hosted by Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh. You probably won't watch it, and will just read about the memes. Here's the complete list of nominees:
