Boy Meets World star Trina McGee has heartbreakingly announced that she suffered a miscarriage after getting pregnant at 54.

The 55-year-old actress shared the emotional news during an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show on Monday, September 23.

Watch the heartbreaking interview below:

"I did lose the baby," McGee said. "It wasn’t expected, it was closer to the end of the first trimester. We don’t have any real reasons why."

Despite the loss, she remained positive, saying: "I was still so grateful to have the experience of being able to conceive at this age and this time."

She continued: "There are so many things that come when you really want a family and you want your family to be complete. There are so many dreams that you have. It was hard to face the fact that that’s not going to happen at this point in the junction."

McGee, who had previously described her pregnancy as a "miracle" after claiming to have reversed menopause at 54, added that the experience has left her with mixed emotions.

"Part of me doesn’t ever want to go through this again," she said.

"The conclusion I came to is, we’ll just keep loving each other. If something happens that way, fine, but I don’t want to put another anxiety on myself. Sometimes it really is better to let go and let God."

The actress had initially announced her pregnancy in June, revealing that she was 12 weeks along with her first child with husband Marcello Thedford and her fourth overall.

McGee, who already has three adult children - Ramia, 31, Langston, 29, and Ezra, 25 - had previously described her pregnancy as entirely natural, crediting a holistic approach for her ability to conceive.

"I just kept saying, 'Is this really happening?' I still do that," McGee shared in an interview with PEOPLE magazine. "But it is. Then, I'll get sick, or I'll do something weird [and] it has to do with pregnancy. And I'm like, 'This is really happening.'"

McGee’s journey toward a fourth pregnancy was a long one. She had expressed a desire to have a child with Thedford, her husband of 16 years, for quite some time.

Initially considering IVF, the couple instead turned to natural remedies, despite McGee being one year into menopause, per the Daily Mail.

The couple also planned to keep their baby’s name a surprise until after birth, with McGee describing her husband’s reaction to the pregnancy as overwhelmingly positive.

"Marcello has been so great," she said. "He reacted so lovingly when I told him I was pregnant."

Though McGee’s fourth pregnancy did not come to full term, she expressed gratitude for the support she received from her family, friends, and former co-stars.
