Cindy Morgan - the actress perhaps best known for her roles in movies like Caddyshack and Tron - has sadly passed away at the age of 69.

The heartbreaking news was first reported by TMZ, with the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office in Florida confirming Morgan's death.

It has since been reported that Morgan's roommate called the police to their Lake Worth Beach home on December 30, after becoming concerned about the actress. The Palm Beach Sheriff's Office informed TMZ that Morgan had recently returned home from a trip, but her roommate received no response when knocking on her door.

The roommate reportedly informed officers that a strong smell was coming inside, which led to her calling 9-1-1. Police found Morgan's body inside the room upon their arrival.

The last time Morgan's roommate saw her alive was December 19.

As of this writing, authorities have confirmed that an investigation into the actress' death is underway, but that no foul play is suspected.

Additionally, a county rep has reportedly told TMZ that Morgan died of "natural causes".

Morgan achieved cinematic stardom with her portrayal of Lacey Underall in the 1980 American sports comedy film Caddyshack, alongside Bill Murray. Her irresistible charm and charisma in the role - playing the attractive niece of Judge Elihu Smails at the Bushwood Country Club - made her a memorable presence in the film.

As well as Caddyshack, Morgan is also known to fans for her role in the groundbreaking science fiction film Tron, where she portrayed the dual characters of Lora and Yori.

Other movie credits include Up Yours, Silent Fury, American Gigolo, Amanda & The Alien, and Galaxis.

On the small screen, Morgan amassed an extensive list of television credits - including appearances in renowned shows such as Manusco, FBI, The Larry Sanders Show, Under Suspicion, The Love Boat, CHiPs, Bring 'Em Back Alive, The Fall Guy, Falcon Crest, Matlock, Hunter, and The Highwayman.

In fact, back in November, Morgan opened up about how she landed her recurring role on Falcon Crest, revealing that she "forgot" to inform the show's producers that she had, in fact, appeared on the show in the past.

"The producers asked me when my new hair color would be permanent. I told them as soon as my contract was permanent," she wrote. "16 episodes total, two characters. I also 'forgot' to tell the producers that I had been on the show before as Lorenzo Lamas’ is love interest. One of the crew recognized me though. Interesting doing a nighttime soap.

"An emotional roller coaster, and I slapped a lot of people. Kissed a lot of others."

Outside of her entertainment career, Morgan was also a vocal supporter of the US military - with her father having served in World War II. The actress was an advocate for helping those who fought in Afghanistan and Iraq with their financial burdens.

Following the news of her passing, fans and colleagues took to social media to pay tribute to the legendary actress.

"So long Cindy Morgan. So brilliant in Caddyshack. A song and scene that has lived rent-free in my head since I was a kid," one fan wrote.

A second added: "Sorry to hear of the passing of Cindy Morgan. I met her a few times while covering TRON Legacy and she was nothing but nice. Maybe will meet again one day on the grid."

Another fan tweeted: "Very sad to hear about the passing of Cindy Morgan, who portrayed Yori in the original TRON in 1982. I got to meet her (and get some of my collection signed) many times at fan events over the years and she was the absolute sweetest, engaging with fans both in person and online"

Our thoughts are with Morgan's family, friends, and fans at this time.
