An air ambulance was sent to Ozzy Osbourne’s Buckinghamshire home last Tuesday morning in a final attempt to save the life of the legendary musician, who passed away at the age of 76.

Emergency services were alerted to a critical medical incident at Welders House, Osbourne’s Grade II-listed mansion near Chalfont St Giles, at approximately 10:30AM on July 22.

Thames Valley Air Ambulance launched a helicopter from RAF Benson in Oxfordshire, roughly 27 miles away, and specialist paramedics arrived shortly after to administer advanced care on-site, per The Mirror.

Despite their efforts, Osbourne was pronounced dead at his home, surrounded by family. The air ambulance remained on the property for about two hours before departing shortly after 12:30PM.

A spokesperson for the emergency service confirmed the response was to provide “advanced critical care.”

Locals in the nearby village of Jordans reported witnessing the red helicopter circling and landing on the estate grounds. “We immediately feared it may be for him, as he was known to be in fragile health,” one resident told MailOnline.

Osbourne’s family later released a statement confirming his death, noting that he had died peacefully at home.

While the Black Sabbath frontman had spoken publicly about his declining health in recent years (including a Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2019 and a series of spinal surgeries) his passing still came as a shock to fans.

Just weeks earlier, he made what would become his final public appearance during the Back to the Beginning concert in Birmingham, which reunited him with his original Black Sabbath bandmates.

Two days before his death, his daughter Kelly Osbourne had shared a video on social media showing her father in good spirits, waving to the camera while eating breakfast.

A source close to the family told People that Ozzy spent his final days in the country he called home, surrounded by loved ones.

“Sharon’s deepest hope was fulfilled,” the source said. “Ozzy’s final days were spent in England, with family and music. He was in peace.”

In recent years, Osbourne and his wife Sharon had overseen major renovations to Welders House, including the installation of a rehabilitation wing to support his medical needs. The preparations reflected their desire for him to remain at home during the later stages of his illness.

Thames Valley Air Ambulance, which responded to the call, operates independently of NHS or government funding and relies entirely on public donations. The organization recently marked its 20,000th mission since becoming a standalone healthcare provider in 2018.

Osbourne’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from across the music world.

Known for his pioneering role in heavy metal and his larger-than-life persona, he leaves behind a legacy spanning six decades. His wife Sharon and their children (Aimee, Jack, and Kelly) were reportedly at his side when he died.
