As Sean 'Diddy' Combs was led out of the court earlier this week, he shared a six-word message to his mom as he awaited the jury's verdict.
The Manhattan federal jury of eight men and four women informed Judge Arun Subramanian on Tuesday (July 1) that they had reached a verdict on four out of five counts in the case against the 55-year-old rapper.
However, they could not agree on the top charge of racketeering conspiracy.
At the time of writing, Diddy has been found guilty on two counts of Transportation for prostitution of Cassie Ventura and Jane (who used a pseudonym during the trial).
He has been found not guilty of Racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking of Cassie Ventura, and sex trafficking of Jane, per Sky News.
The case centered on Ventura’s testimony that Combs forced her into “freak-offs,” described by prosecutors as days-long, drug-fueled sex sessions with male prostitutes, sometimes recorded by Combs.
The “freak-offs” reportedly took place at Combs' homes, Ventura’s homes, and in hotels worldwide, with Combs allegedly paying escorts between $1,500 to $6,000, CBS News reported.
Ventura described a 2013 incident where Combs allegedly kicked her off a yacht at the Cannes Film Festival after accusing her of drug use, later threatening to release explicit videos to control her, as well as a 2016 incident where he was caught on camera assaulting her in a Los Angeles hotel.
Another former girlfriend, identified only as “Jane”, testified she was forced to participate in the parties under threats that Combs would stop paying her rent and cut off financial support if she did not comply.
Combs, who pleaded not guilty, appeared downcast in court as the note was read.
His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, argued that Combs was facing a “fake trial” and that prosecutors “badly exaggerated” evidence, describing his relationship with Ventura as “loving” despite the testimony and video shown in court.
Diddy’s children, including Quincy, Christian “King”, Chance, twins D’Lila and Jessie, and baby Love (born in 2023 to girlfriend Dana Tran), were in court to support their father.
As he left the courtroom for a holding cell, Diddy, wearing a yellow sweater, turned to his family and said: “Stay strong.”
He bowed his head in prayer, and his children followed, with Diddy adding: “God, please watch over my family. Say a prayer for my family.”
On Tuesday, Diddy told his mother, who has been present throughout the trial: “I’ll be all right, love you,” per the Daily Mail.
The maximum sentence for the crimes Diddy has been found guilty of is 10 years for each charge. The prosecution has stated they will push for the maximum 20 year sentence.
The date for his sentencing has not been set.
